This position is designated as Hybrid - Fully Flexible and expected to work from our World Headquarters office once per month to several times a week. The specific days in the office are determined by managers based on business requirements. Rotary is under the jurisdiction of Illinois employment laws; we require all employees to live within reasonable daily commuting distance to Evanston.

OverviewThe Communications Product Owner position is responsible for managing a suite of digital media products, specifically:Rotary Brand CenterRotary's magazine page at rotary.org/magazineRotary magazine's Digital replica (subscription)

The role reports to the Communications Product Manager and works closely with the UX Design and Development teams to manage the product, understand priorities, and provide all necessary details for the development team to achieve their goals effectively and efficiently.

You Will HaveBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required3+ years of professional experience as a product owner of software products and/or services, business analyst or similar roleFamiliarity with the product management lifecycle and knowledge of media operations in news and digital publicationsExperience with creating a monetization and advertising strategyStrong analytical and project management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience in building consensus across groups with different priorities and leading diverse cross-functional teamsComfortable working in an Agile environmentYou Are Good At

Managing Rotary Magazine Team's digital media productsCreating and executing the product vision for a new web experience for Rotary magazineLeading the efforts to find a new platform to host the digital edition of Rotary's magazine and partnering with vendors to strengthen the Rotary magazine experienceWorking with the Digital Insights Lead to maintain a data analytics dashboard, look up stats, pull stats, and create reports for internal customersKeeping track of help desk and incidents tickets to ensure customer inquiries and production outages are triaged, investigated, and resolved.Developing a monetization and advertising strategy for Rotary MagazineDeveloping proficiency with Rotary's content management system and its integrations with third party products to support content authors, DAM platform specialists, and global communications specialistsSupporting the broader Communications digital portfolio by serving as a product owner on other websites as determined by the Product ManagerOwning the product backlog and priority of backlog items; ensure it is transparent, visible, and understoodCreating and communicating backlog items (i.e., user stories)Closely collaborating with key team members including the Manager of Web Content and the Rotary magazine team to gain product understanding and prioritize backlog items efficientlyPartnering with the Brand Center business owner to prioritize, coordinate, and implement business tasks and projectsAssist with creating the platform for digital advertising for the magazineProcessing and analyzing product feedback from stakeholdersCollaborating with IT to assist decision-making and sequencing of critical technology enablersCollaborating with the Technical Lead, Scrum Master, Test Lead, and Architect to plan new development workWorking with Rotary's member and data services team to manage circulation for the digital subscription of the magazineEnsuring ongoing collaboration with other product development teams to align work and proactively manage cross-team dependenciesConduct demo for all required stakeholdersRun user acceptance testingLeadership Attributes
