Primary Responsibilities
Requests permission for a particular musical each fall from the headmaster and pastor.
Secures permission to perform the musical (where applicable), contacting the company for the rights to perform and paying all script fees.
Recruits a support team (some paid, some volunteer) as needed: assistant director, stage manager, music director, accompanist, set construction, props, costumes, etc.
Manages all musical-related employees, parent/alumni volunteers, and support staff.
Establishes a budget to be approved by the Saint Agnes School Business Administrator.
Oversees student behavior according to school policies as an extension of the mission of Saint Agnes School.
Models Christian behavior that is professional, appropriate, and morally upright, and ensures that employees, students, and parents do likewise.
Works directly with music supervisor, choreographer, and musicians.
Production Responsibilities
Assists in the hiring of personnel to help with applicable duties.
Announces to the community the specific musical that is to be performed that spring.
Schedules use of the facilities to enable sufficient time and space for rehearsals and performances.
Communicates schedules with all constituencies in advance.
Collaborates with other coaches and moderators to manage student participation in multiple activities.
Conducts auditions for students and announces cast and crew lists.
Ensures modesty in all costuming.
Manages rehearsals from first reading through final performance.
Supervises the striking of the set and reorganization of scene shop.
