A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Product Design and User Interface Patent Agent to join their dynamic intellectual property team. This position involves managing patent prosecution and preparation processes, particularly focusing on cutting-edge technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in both legal and technical fields, specifically in software, artificial intelligence, and related technologies. They must exhibit superior writing and communication skills and have demonstrated success in patent preparation and prosecution.Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, draft, and prosecute patent applications, primarily in the fields of product design, software technologies, and user interfaces.Collaborate with clients to understand technical innovations and ensure proper patent coverage.Perform detailed patent searches and provide legal advice regarding patentability and infringement risks.Conduct interviews with patent examiners and provide strategic input on patent portfolios.Manage a docket of patent applications, ensuring all deadlines are met efficiently.Provide technical expertise on issues relating to artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, IOT, networking, and other relevant fields.Liaise with engineering teams to draft invention disclosures and identify patentable innovations.Stay updated on emerging technology trends to provide legal advice in line with technological advancements.Conduct due diligence on intellectual property matters in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.Assist in defending and enforcing intellectual property rights in the context of disputes or litigations.Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.JD (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school.Admission to the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) is required.Requirements

Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in patent preparation and prosecution within a law firm or in-house counsel.Proven experience in software-related technologies, artificial intelligence, IOT, networking, quantum technologies, or similar fields.High level of academic achievement and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong law firm and industry experience in managing patent portfolios.Exceptional research, writing, and verbal communication skills.Experience interfacing with clients and providing strategic legal counsel on intellectual property matters.Skills and Competencies

In-depth knowledge of patent law and patent prosecution processes, especially in high-tech fields.Excellent technical writing and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and innovations.Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with engineers, clients, and legal teams.
