Safe Harbor Center

is a nationally recognized organization that annually delivers services to 3,000 at-risk children, families, and individuals who reside in nine counties across southeast Georgia. Programs include residential and emergency shelters, transitional living support, children’s advocacy and rape crisis centers, services for runaway and homeless youth, and family preservation support and education. The annual budget is approximately $6 million, comprised of $5 million from program-related local, state, and federal grants and $1 million from individuals, businesses, community organizations, foundations, and special events. The Director of Development and Marketing provides strategic leadership in fund development, donor management, and marketing. With an annual goal of approximately $1million, the Director of Development is responsible for raising Safe Harbor’s philanthropic support from individuals, businesses, foundations, community organizations and special events and expanding the organization’s local and state visibility through effective marketing and outreach. Salary is based on experience.

Primary Responsibilities Include

Fund and Resource Development:

Design, implement and evaluate annual fundraising strategies, including major donor initiatives ($1,000+), annual appeals, business and community organization partnerships, and special events.

Donor Solicitation:

Conduct research to identify prospective individual donors, foundations, and community and business partners. Corporate donors/ partners, and prospect profiles and develop strategies to introduce them to and engage them with Safe Harbor.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:

Support donor recognition and acknowledgement processes, including written communications, appreciation events, and ongoing engagement.

Special Events:

Identify event opportunities and work with volunteer leadership to plan and execute special events.

Board Relations:

Through the Board Development Committee, engage individual Board members in appropriate development and marketing initiatives.

Community Relations and Marketing:

Direct organizational image and branding efforts, ensuring consistent messaging in social media, press, group presentations, and printed materials.
