Job Description:
WBRZ is seeking an experienced and dynamic TV News Cast Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for directing live and pre-recorded newscasts, ensuring smooth production flow, and maintaining the technical quality of our broadcasts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct live news broadcasts, breaking news, and special programming with precision and professionalism.
- Collaborate with producers, anchors, and other newsroom staff to execute high-quality newscasts.
- Manage timing, cues, and transitions during broadcasts to ensure flawless execution.
- Operate and manage production control room equipment, including switchers, audio boards, and video playback systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during live broadcasts.
- Ensure all elements of a newscast are visually and technically sound.
- Lead a team of operators and crew, providing clear direction during high-pressure situations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a TV News Cast Director or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with news production workflows and control room operations.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and in high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to work with diverse teams.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of production switchers, graphics systems, and broadcast automation software (experience with systems like VizRT, Grass Valley, and Crispin is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
