Description
Position: Marketing and Communications Manager #INDGHP Department: Marketing and Development Reports to: Head of Fund Development Status: Exempt Goodwill is committed to creating a culture of belonging where all people feel respected and valued. Summary Responsible for day-to-day direction and oversight for the organization's marketing, communication, brand management, advocacy and special events activities. Supports public relations initiatives in partnership with our PR firm with the goal of enriching the public's understanding of Goodwill's mission. Works in concert with the Head of Fund Development to develop and guide tactical direction of the marketing and communications team. Maintains positive relations with the public, the press, and electronic media. Primarily responsible for the visual presentation of marketing materials by designing art and copy layouts. In collaboration with the marketing team, develops, designs, and produces public relations (with PR firm support) and marketing materials to support Goodwill's mission and social enterprise operations. Leads graphic design projects in support of fundraising, community relations, and new donor and customer acquisition. Maintains the integrity of GKA branding standards and divisional marketing. Coordinates and implements marketing plans for the organization in cooperation with all members of the marketing team with special emphasis on the Retail division. Duties and Responsibilities Marketing Hires, orients, trains, develops, coaches, disciplines, evaluates performance, and terminates staff. Ensures job descriptions are maintained and updated as well as establishes performance criteria. Promotes and models a team-based approach among staff and works across departments to support all aspects of employment at Goodwill. Provides leadership to marketing, communication and supports advocacy functions of the organization while demonstrating the highest standards of ethics, values, integrity and trust. Responsible for the achievement of marketing, communication and related advocacy goals and financial objectives. Participates with management in the development and evaluation of strategic marketing plans and brand management. Participates in the budgeting process and operates within established parameters. In partnership with our Public Relations firm, generates media interest in Goodwill and ensures regular contact with target media and appropriate and timely responses to media requests. Maintains a positive local community profile by participating in community activities and service organizations. In partnership with our Public Relations firm, develops and maintains a comprehensive list of press, media, and community communication mediums; writes, produces, and distributes press kits, feature stories, calendar listings, public service announcements (psas), and other items for sponsored events. Ensure that media releases shape the public perception of Goodwill and increase awareness of our mission and goals. Partners with Head of Fund Development to oversee the advocacy agenda for the organization as it relates to GKA funding, mission and strategic direction. Graphic Design Oversees design projects such as advertisements, promotions, web and social media graphics, video productions, and newsletters. Works closely with the marketing team on content creation geared to specific strategies to achieve targeted outcomes. Translate ideas into variable design concepts. Researches and keeps well-informed of emerging design trends and practices for print and web. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design pro rams such as Adobe Creative Suite - Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Conducts market research to provide recommendations to divisional teams about a variety of marketing and branding efforts. Develops and maintains manuals/guidelines for branding and marketing collateral. Operates within established guidelines of approved project budgets and ensure projects meet established deadlines. Represents Goodwill Keystone Area at special events and community outreach events. Liaison to the Donated Goods Retail division and provides specific support. Plan, develop, and direct the marketing and branding efforts with the ultimate goal of increasing sales and donations. Provides recommendations on a variety of marketing and branding efforts. Develop guidelines and tools for brand projects; such as but not limited to, store branding and truck wraps. Assists with the development of the annual budget for retail marketing and works with the team to ensure the completion of operational tasks that are in line with the annual strategic plan. Promotes an environment of workplace safety. Assures that duties are performed in a safe manner and safety requirements are adhered to. Communicates progress, problems, and concerns to the Head of Fund Development. Positions Supervised Digital Marketing Specialist
Qualifications
Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations or relevant field; or Associates Degree in Marketing, Public Relations with two (2) years' experience in the relevant field; or HSD/GED and four (4) years' relevant experience which enables the individual to meet the standards and expectations of the position. Minimum of five (5) years public relations and marketing experience. Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Experience in overseeing the design and production of print and video materials. Works with Public Relations firm to write press releases, presentations and working successfully with the media. Demonstrated skills and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Proven ability to develop and maintain key community and business relationships. Skills in Microsoft Office, Publisher and electronic communication tools.
