Education:Masterrsquo;s degree in science, writing, publishing, or fields that unite research and writing.ANDExperience:3 years of experience working in the research and writing area, with an understanding of scholarly publishing and communication.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):Demonstrates excellent writing and editing skills (grammar, punctuation, and spelling).Understands how to follow journal, poster, or conference presentation guidelines.Has proficiency in Office 365, Biorender, citation managers, and Canvas, and interest in learning new skills.Job SummaryThe Office for Professional Writing, Publishing, and Communication supports the writing and communication of researchers, faculty, and staff at Jefferson. The Research Communication Specialist will edit papers to prepare them for publication in scholarly journals and edit other scholarly communication (posters, presentations, abstracts, etc.) as needed. They will assist Academic Commons (AC) staff in developing and delivering programs that support researchersrsquo; writing and publishing. Also, the specialist will help develop and deliver AC workshops and online instructional modules on research writing and communication (e.g., posters and graphical abstracts).Essential FunctionsInteracts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.Reviews manuscripts and other communication as needed, supportively and tactfully.Provides writing support for researchers online or in person as needed.Collaborates with AC staff and Jefferson faculty to support the writing needs of researchers (faculty, graduate students, residents, and post-docs).Helps develop and co-present workshops and programs that cultivate scholarly communication skills.Works proactively and independently to meet deadlines and perform other duties as assigned.
