In this role, the associate will contribute to the development and execution of communication strategies and advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications and public policy, with the ability to advance HHRD's advocacy objectives across various issue areas. This position involves regular engagement with congressional offices, government agencies, and civil society partners. Occasional travel may be required. Candidates must be aligned with HHRD’s faith-based mission and values.Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement comprehensive communication strategies that enhance HHRD’s visibility and advocacy impact.Manage internal communications, including drafting newsletters, memos, and other internal materials.Draft high-quality content for mass media, including press releases and website materials.Organize and execute events such as press conferences and advocacy campaigns.Serve as a media liaison, handling requests for interviews and public statements.Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including advocates, policymakers, and civil society leaders.Collaborate with marketing teams to produce content for advertisements and articles.Monitor and analyze policy developments relevant to HHRD’s advocacy goals.Participate in organizational events, retreats, and conferences; support internal initiatives and special projects.Contribute to the development and execution of HHRD’s annual policy and advocacy strategies.Work Schedule and Requirements: Work from the office 2-3 days per week as part of the hybrid work schedule. Be available to attend evening and weekend events as required to support HHRD’s advocacy and communication efforts. Some travel may be required for meetings, events, and organizational initiatives.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, political science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum of two years of professional experience in communications, advocacy, or a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with familiarity in policy tracking tools such as Bloomberg Gov or similar software. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to network and build relationships with high-level stakeholders. Public speaking expertise and the ability to represent the organization with professionalism. Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines consistently. A proactive, self-starter mindset with leadership capabilities.
