Our team provides leadership, strategy, services and support to advance the NC State brand and help the university achieve its core mission.The Director of Public Relations, reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, is a key member of NC State’s University Communications and Marketing team and plays a lead role in leading and managing public relations, issues management and crisis communications across campus.The Ideal Candidate:Natural networker who earns trust easily and is crafty with the written word.Thrives under deadlines and possesses the organizational skills to keep many projects moving forward.Has the demonstrated ability to manage crisis and/or emergency communications in a high-stress environment.Has the skills to build and maintain strong working relationships across different departments and roles within an organization.Duties and Responsibilities Include:Promote and protect the university and enhance its reputation statewide, regionally and nationally.Oversee the university’s issues management program.Work closely with team members in University Communications and Marketing.Contribute to the media training program and serve as a consultant to campus partners.Produce strategic communications plans and materials.Qualifications:Minimum Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in the area of assignment, of which at least one is supervisory; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Other Required Qualifications:Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated experience creating comprehensive communications strategies.Demonstrated understanding of the political and cultural environment in North Carolina.Professional experience communicating key messages to diverse targeted public.Demonstrated experience managing crisis communications.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in higher education.Knowledge of and familiarity with NC State University.Experience writing speeches and high-level messaging.Required License(s) or Certification(s):A valid North Carolina Driver’s License is required within 60 days of start date.Application Instructions:
