Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) works to support learning by empowering the employees to reach their full potential both personally and professionally at NC State. L&OD strives to build a learning organization through instructor-led courses, certificate programs, and comprehensive online learning systems.The Instructional Designer reports to the Director of Learning and Organizational Development and provides leadership in research-based instructional design, including creating engaging learning materials, developing assessment techniques, and designing learning technology solutions.The production environment is collaborative and team-oriented, working closely with Subject Matter Experts, project coordinators, and other instructional professionals to design and develop courses and learning tools that meet project needs.Duties include but are not limited to:

Designs and develops effective courses, including web content, interactive exercises, assessments, and online communication mechanisms.Provides leadership and project management for course production projects, including online course development and enhancement.Partners with UHR colleagues and other content experts to address instructional challenges.Consults with SMEs and UHR leadership on needs assessment and course redesign.Guides SMEs in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of effective courses.Gathers and reports on evidence of the impact of instructional innovations on learner success.Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of directly related work experience.Other Required Qualifications:Experience designing and producing online course materials.Experience in managing individual projects.Experience with online course management systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas).Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of agile project management concepts in Higher Education.Experience with blended/hybrid learning design.Required License(s) or Certification(s):
