Technical Writer

to provide direct support for the Office of the Secretary. The Technical Writer will assist OSEC’s Information Technology team on a range of large-scale projects.

This position is 40 hours/week onsite. Availability during core hours is required (10am - 3pm ET). Some onsite presence is also required.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of technical writing experience.

Technical Skills:At least seven years' experience producing technical documentation for multiple platforms according to software development lifecycles (SDLCs), including DevOps, Agile, Lean, Iterative, or Waterfall.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong proofreading and editing skills.

Ability to:Create and edit a myriad of training, promotional, professional, and technical content (e.g., training videos, pamphlets, articles, one-pagers, executive summaries, copy/content for websites/web pages, charters, instruction sets, SOPs, user guides, white papers).Use video editing and production software such as Camtasia. 55% of the jobPrepare and edit technical guidance (e.g. policies and procedures), best practices, briefings, operations and maintenance manuals, software and system documentation, API documentation, developer tutorials, and other materials as needed.Collaborate with and coordinate the efforts of subject matter experts and multiple technical contributors to produce content.Produce project documentation.Produce and apply style guides and design guidelines to ensure a consistent presentation of information.Proofread large technical documents for spelling, grammar, usage, textual errors, and appropriate tone.Conduct technical research as needed to produce content.Translate complex concepts into usable, audience-appropriate text and graphics.Provide general desktop support (i.e., resolving problems with software, hardware, configurations, etc.), including workstations and peripherals.
