Job Summary

Huntsman Cancer Foundation ( HCF ) seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Communications Specialist, Digital Content. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the individual hired for this role will assist with a wide range of marketing/communications initiatives and contribute to the creation of dynamic supporting collateral in a variety of content forms, including web, social media, video, etc.

This includes but is not limited to, utilizing traditional and electronic publishing technologies to produce communications that implement project objectives. The individual will work with the communications team to ensure brand clarity and consistency with the mission and vision of HCF in internal and external communications and initiatives. This individual will develop materials and partnerships to drive engagement in HCF campaigns. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills to execute these tasks, adept analytical skills to evaluate their efforts, and an understanding of emerging technology that can advance their work.

This individual should be passionate about Huntsman Cancer Institute’s (HCI’s) mission and able to inspire donors to join us in fulfilling that mission.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Coordinate and implement marketing and communication projects that include advertising, information dissemination, customer/public relations services, and generating brand awareness.

Assist with implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for the entire organization, aiming to attract potential donors and steward existing ones.

Create and curate compelling and flexible donor-centric content by engaging with key stakeholders, including both internal and external audiences.

Manage online fundraising platform (e- CRM ) implementations, including deploying emails, donation forms, marketing automations and implementing new technologies and improved process.

Assist with updating marketing materials as needed.

Track all marketing efforts through reports and suggest/implement innovative ideas to help increase online donor engagement.

Manage Headlines for Hope, a monthly donor cultivation e-newsletter and other e-blasts. Knowledge of email deployment tools is preferred.

Support the development and implementation of marketing and communications objectives consistent with Huntsman Cancer Foundation’s goals.

Report on success measures of employed strategies, including insights and recommendations for future strategies.

Ensure all digital content follows best SEO practices and HCF’s style and brand guidelines

Monitor media coverage and internal and external news stories to keep oneself and the foundation team informed about relevant topics to ensure the foundation team remains up-to-date with important trends.

Essential Skills

Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines

Demonstrated ability to bring projects to completion on time and on budget

Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Ability to write/edit according to organizational and industry-standard style guides

Strong graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator)

Strong software skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project management tools, etc.

Working knowledge of HTML and CSS

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Internally motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

Willingness to perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.

Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.

Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
