Job Summary
The Manager, U-M Health Communications, will lead the communication strategy for U-M Health, closely working with U-M Health's executive team to create and execute strategic communication plans to further the goals of the organization.The Manager will supervise communicators across U-M Health, specifically in the adult hospitals, women and children's hospitals, ambulatory care segments, Quality, Office of Patient Experience and Nursing. These managerial responsibilities will be additive to select individual projects supporting the health system. In this role, the Manager will be meeting with internal stakeholders on key initiatives and working with team members to provide an integrated and strategic approach to communication across all units based on health system priorities. The position will report to the Sr. Director, Internal & Executive Communication in Department of Communication (DOC), and work collaboratively with other communicators on the internal team.

Responsibilities*
Manages and leads a team of communicators supporting U-M Health segments, Quality, Office of Patient Experience and Nursing, providing day-to-day supervision, support, coaching and professional development.
Lead and oversee key communication initiatives across the health system, including strategic direction, management and production of content across communication channels, including the newly forming intranet.
Provide executive communication support for the needs of senior leaders, which will include developing strategies that align and integrate messages from various executives.
Manage and participate in processes that improve current communication venues or launch of new systems or channels.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure accurate and appropriate content and information sources.
Work with colleagues within the Department of Communication, including web, marketing, public relations and creative services team members, as needed for select broader communication campaigns.
Ensure institutional alignment and integration across segments.
Leverage technology and social media to optimize and increase innovative communication approaches to effectively reach all levels of staff.
Required Qualifications*
A bachelor's degree in a communication-related field, such as journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field.
7+ years of experience in public relations, promotion, marketing or communication in a professional setting.
Must be comfortable in a multi-layered organization with complex relationship and executive reporting.
Able to develop and manage multiple projects with innovative solutions with attention to detail and accuracy.
Desired Qualifications*
Previous management experience.
