Your role involves a blend of design leadership, user research, and hands-on creation of user experiences and interactions that address real-world military challenges. By engaging closely with end-users, you will translate their needs into designs that not only solve critical problems but also pave the way for the future of defense technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user experience (UX) design or service design with a knack for translating and visualizing complex technical concepts into user-centric solutions.Key Responsibilities:Lead user experience initiatives for the C2 Systems, transforming complex technical and operational requirements into easily comprehensible user flows, narratives, concepts of operation (CONOP), user interfaces, and experiences.Design and prototype innovative solutions, creating persuasive and functional design concepts for current and future software applications.Engage with SMEs, both internal and external, to drive clear decomposition of required product capabilities within the C2 domain. Advocate for the prioritization of these capabilities by demonstrating their potential cross-business line utility and user impact to the Platform team.Facilitate interactive workshops and collaborative design sessions with stakeholders across disciplines to identify user needs, generate ideas, and validate design concepts.Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in C2-specific workflows, ensuring that user experiences are grounded in a deep understanding of operational contexts and user needs.Participate in- and sometimes lead comprehensive user research, including interviews, usability testing, and field studies, to gather insights that drive design decisions.Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions meet strategic objectives and user needs.Develop and maintain UX documentation such as service blueprints, journey maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups.Champion the integration of user research findings into the product development lifecycle, influencing the strategic direction of C2 Systems.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in UX design or related field with a focus on complex systems or products.Proven ability to translate technical and domain-specific information into narratives, conops, and feature definitions.Demonstrated ability to lead user research and apply insights to design impactful user experiences.Experience in conducting research, synthesis, and driving product roadmap creation.Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma).Ability to articulate user experience concepts and prototypes to stakeholders and team members effectively.Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects and priorities.Willingness to travel as needed to engage with users and stakeholders (up to 25%)Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance.Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated aptitude across a broad range of product types (internal tools, customer-facing applications, tools for technical customers)Experience in defense, aerospace, or other related fields, with an insight into the operational context of the users.A strong portfolio that demonstrates design thinking, problem-solving, and user-centric solutions.Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to lead interactive planning and decomposition sessions.Self-starter with the ability to successfully navigate through ambiguity and loosely defined organizational structures.
