Senior UX Researcher, ASBX Design & User Research Amazon Software Builder Experience has a mission to make Amazon the best place to be a software builder. It was established in 2022 bringing together existing and new teams with a focus on modernizing processes and tools. The organization is invested in deeply understanding the software builder experience in order to uncover areas of opportunity to improve it through tooling or process. As a UX Researcher you will undertake generative, tactical and evaluative research to create insights about the software builder experience at Amazon. You will use a mix of different methodologies to answer ambiguous questions about the software builder experience. You will collaborate with a team of passionate, supportive and skilled researchers to create new approaches to exciting problems. We are looking for someone very comfortable with quantitative methodologies and approaches.
Please ensure you read the below overview and requirements for this employment opportunity completely.Key job responsibilitiesOwn all aspects of the user research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communicating, socializing research), making autonomous decisions to evaluate which user research methodology approaches work, and which don’t.Create long-term research roadmaps and opportunity frameworks that align to and inform product strategy and goals.Collaborate with other researchers, UX designers, product managers, and engineering to help create customer-obsessed solutions by sharing your insights.Be a strategic partner by becoming a domain expert within the software builder experience.Communicate the results of your research and the impact on product design, go-live, and future user research.Be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity.
A day in the lifeYou'll collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to identify areas of opportunity for research and become a domain expert in the Amazon software builder experience. You will meet with the UX Research team for crit, where you'll give and receive feedback because we believe in mentorship and learning from each other. You will most likely spend time socializing with your stakeholders/peers over lunch.
About the teamUnderstanding that our org has the mandate to make software building awesome for all software builders, our close-knit team of designers and researchers are making that first we build more robust tools. More importantly, we're incorporating the best UX practices into how we build those tools such that they can be scaled out and applied by all Amazonians to make their output truly resonate with customers.And even though we represent 50 products, the UX team meets twice-weekly to share ideas and work so we can cross-inform product recommendations for our entire portfolio.We also look for opportunities to socialize regularly, regardless of where everyone may be geographically. We have a lot of growth opportunity ahead, for our products, the orgs we support, our team, and individual careers.

Minimum Qualifications5+ years of hands-on experience as a user researcher or similar role.Experience conducting UX research (study design, execution, data analysis, and devising customer insights/recommendations) with varied research methodologies and the proven ability to execute the right methodology to get the needed result.Experience with developer tools/experience or nascent technology (e.g. GenAI, Crypto etc).A portfolio that illustrates how your research informed decision-making, showcasing deliverables, and your ability to extract actionable insights from qualitative and quantitative data.5+ years’ experience working alongside a product development cycle, and building relationships between business, UX, technology, and research teams.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to present insights clearly and persuasively to colleagues, partners and stakeholders.Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Preferred QualificationsThe ability to tackle complex, high-level research challenges within an uncharted problem space.Experience earning trust with highly technical stakeholders.Experience inventing new research methods when the right method does not exist.MS or PhD in human computer interaction, human factors, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or related discipline.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
