Job Title: Correctional/Nurse Practitioner Job Specialty: Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Job Duration: 6 months, potential for extension based on need and mutual agreement Shift: Day - 4x8 - 7am - 3pm, 32 hours per week Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: At least one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a primary care setting or hospital medicine License: Valid Registered Nurse license and Nurse Practitioner certification by the Ohio Board of Nursing with a certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe Certifications: Healthcare-professional level BLS/CPR certification; Drug Enforcement Administration certification preferred Must-Have: Comprehensive resume including education, training, work history, and Ohio license Job Description: - Create and implement patient care plans, and perform advanced nursing duties within licensure boundaries - Monitor progress of patients and intervene in chronic illness - Conduct routine physical examinations to assess control or status of chronic conditions and diagnose new conditions - Evaluate and prescribe treatments for acute and chronically ill patients - Manage discharge planning and follow-up care for those with chronic or medical issues - Perform minor surgery as permitted by training and competency - Assess the necessity for internal or external referral consultations - Order and review results of laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic testing - Administer vaccines for communicable diseases- Maintain required medical records - Document medical information gathered during patient interviews according to guidelines and standards - Record assessments, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, and follow-up parameters - Collaborate monthly with the Chief Medical Officer for medical quality oversight- Provide clinical direction to registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, phlebotomists, and other caregivers Major Worker Characteristics: - Knowledge of skilled registered nursing procedures and advanced nurse practices- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and relevant state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures- Competence in human relations, employee training and development- Proficiency in health care services and program management- Skills in counseling and interviewing
