POSITION OVERVIEW

Apply now, read the job details by scrolling down Double check you have the necessary skills before sending an application.Reporting to the Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO), and working closely with the President and CEO, Executive Team, and Board members, the Manager of Marketing and Communications will develop and implement a world-class marketing and communications plan, directly managing activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization’s brand reputation.

Candidates with experience working in underrepresented communities desired, as this position is responsible for the development and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities. As an ambassador for United Community, this individual will build relationships with community leaders, local officials, media, and influencers. The Manager of Marketing and Communication will apply a community-centric approach, to advance United Community’s position, as well as drive awareness and donor support for the organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

1. Digital Fundraising & Marketing Expertise

· Fundraising Channel Identification: Strong ability to research, identify, and leverage emerging fundraising channels like crowdfunding, peer-to-peer fundraising, and social media platforms to boost revenue.

· Campaign Strategy Development: Expertise in developing and executing digital marketing strategies that align with fundraising goals, including creating content and campaigns for donor prospecting.

· Data Analytics & Testing: Proficiency in data analysis, list segmentation, and developing A/B testing strategies to optimize marketing and fundraising campaigns for better performance.

· Content Management & KPI Creation: Experience with content management systems (WordPress) and crafting key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate content effectiveness, including interactive campaigns and digital projects.

· Digital Advertising Management: Skills in managing digital advertising initiatives (Google Ads, social media ads, etc.) that enhance brand visibility and drive user action (donations, engagement).

· Social Media Strategy: Mastery of social media platforms and analytics to maintain a robust online presence and align digital marketing strategies with organizational goals.

2. Interdepartmental Collaboration & Training

· Communication Training: Ability to train and coach staff on content curation, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding across departments.

· Internal Communications Development: Competency in working cross-functionally to implement an internal communications system that promotes collaboration and brand alignment.

3. Media Relations & Public Engagement

· Media Strategy Development: Skill in building relationships with media outlets and influencers to maximize coverage and enhance public visibility for campaigns, events, and announcements.

· Media Contact & Public Relations: Experience serving as a key point of contact for media relations, including managing press releases, responding to media inquiries, and coordinating public relations efforts.

· Speechwriting & Presentation Preparation: Expertise in preparing talking points, speeches, and presentations for leadership and public-facing events.

4. Team Development & Management

· Project Management & Operations Oversight: Proven ability to manage communication operations, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.

· Volunteer & Contractor Management: Competence in recruiting, managing, and mentoring volunteers or contractors for communication initiatives.

· Team Building & Mentorship: Strong leadership skills in building and developing teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and fostering collaboration.

· Content Creation & Reporting: Proficiency in managing the creation of newsletters, annual reports, and board development reports to communicate progress and impact.

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

· Trend Monitoring & Adaptation: Ability to stay abreast of the latest marketing and communication technologies, tools, and strategies to implement or modify existing practices for maximum impact.

· Metrics & Evaluation: Strong capability to monitor, analyze, and refine digital fundraising and marketing campaigns, using insights to drive iterative improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role either in-house or with an agency.

· Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field, and an advanced degree is preferred, but not required.

· Extensive successful writing and editing experience (externally focused) with a variety of print and online communications media.

· Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program to advance an organization’s mission and goals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $76,250.00 per year
