The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for an Outside Service/Temporary Marketing Communications Specialist located in Lansing, MIPosition Summary:The Lansing Board of Water & Light is looking for a self-starter to join their award-winning Public Relations & Marketing Department. Responsible for all corporate communications, the department develops and writes the corporate voice for internal publications and external customer relations while being respectful of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Reporting to the Public Relations & Marketing Manager, the Marketing Communications Specialist will work closely with others throughout the company and Customer Experience division. The ideal candidate will love developing marketing plans with strong graphic design experience. This person will be the expert on how to educate current customers on BWL programs, communicate to potential new customers and deliver on business objectives. Essential Functions: Build and integrate marketing programs and campaigns to raise company profile and awareness among key target audiences. Oversee and support development of corporate email marketing system. Develop business cases for marketing programs at the proposal stage and make recommendations on marketing tactics. Develop and monitor metrics to evaluate the impact of marketing programs in achieving their stated objectives, including impact on lead flow, value and retention. Lead the execution of marketing programs from start to finish, driving collaboration with internal stakeholders and leveraging the right internal and external processes. Produce well-crafted and highly compelling written content for marketing and public relations initiatives. Support graphic design projects for internal and external use. Contributes to creating and writing social media content. Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure brand and messaging consistency. Other duties as necessitated or assigned.Job Specifications:Required: Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising or public relations with 1-5 years of experience. Strong understanding of key marketing disciplines including email marketing, social media platforms, media management, Microsoft Office and Teams. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite with strong graphic design skills. Excellent writing skills and expertise integrating brand voice into B2C communications. Strong professional and interpersonal skills. Excellent time-management skills and demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects and deadlines. Outstanding organizational, planning and problem-solving skills. Self-starter with an excellent work ethic and a positive, proactive style as well as the judgment and discretion to handle sensitive matters. Must have valid Michigan driver's license with acceptable driving record.Preferred: Experience using email platform services Mail Chimp.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
