With an unmatched reach at the national and local level, Gannett touches the lives of millions with our Pulitzer Prize-winning content, consumer experiences and benefits, and advertiser products and services.The Director of Subscription Strategy builds and leads the strategic plans to drive subscriber acquisition, increase engagement, and mitigate churn for two Gannett publications: NorthJersey.com and The Record, based in Woodland Park, NJ; and lohud and The Journal News, based in White Plains, New York.Key ResponsibilitiesHead of subscription sales and engagement for NorthJersey.com and lohudDirect reporting structure to consumer subscription and revenue team with a dotted line to local GMMust be able to work onsite 60% of the time or as directed by the key managerResponsible for driving volume and revenue by overseeing consumer sales and engagement results at NorthJersey.com and lohud.com.Develop sales and engagement strategic plans including the audience roadmap to drive revenueWork with news teams to incorporate high-performing and trending content into marketing plansLaunch marketing programs to support newsroom initiatives that drive subscription growth including newsletters, SMS campaigns, social media platforms, and native appsBe present (onsite) at key meetingsResponsible for planning, managing and monitoring social media ads to drive subscription sales or improve engagement of existing subscribers within brand guidelinesEnsure website and ads are functioning as expected for both print and digital subscriptionsCreate and launch in-app campaigns to drive subscriptions or improve engagementCommunicate results with key stakeholdersRespond to changing trends internally and externallyUnderstand the competitive landscape in the market and factors that are impacting growth, including analysis of reach and market penetrationAdhere to all pricing strategies as defined by Local Revenue and PlanningCollaborate with social and search teams to stay abreast of most trends and best practicesLead and be present at local events to drive subscriptions, top-of-funnel leads and brand awarenessEducation/Certification RequirementsBachelor's Degree5+ years of sales and marketing experience2+ years of subscription sales experienceExperience RequiredMust be a dynamic leader with a proven track record of evaluating, identifying, and executing strategic opportunitiesDemonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teamsHistory of delivering results and implementing changeSpecialized Knowledge RequiredStrategic marketing plannerAbility to derive actionable insights from social media metrics and marketing dataKnowledge and understanding of technology, search, new trends, and the latest in social media featuresSelf-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasksTeam player with the ability to work within a multi-tiered environmentExcellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality typesCreative and efficient in proposing solutions to time-critical opportunitiesAbility to multi-task and thrive under pressure and deadlinesTechnology/Equipment Expertise or ProficiencyProficient with Microsoft Office Products, Project Management toolsGoogle AnalyticsBase Salary Range:
