Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 750 feeding partners in seven Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Last year, with the help of numerous donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributed nearly 78 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women's shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes.

From weddings to corporate events, intimate anniversaries to community-wide gatherings, Plate Above offers customizable and innovative offerings. Led by award-winning Chef Jill Holland, Plate Above's from-scratch cuisine and best-in-class service creates an unforgettable taste experience that is a favorite amongst clients.

The goal of Plate Above Catering is to generate revenue to support the Second Harvest Culinary Training Program; a 16-week continuing education opportunity offering adults facing barriers to employment with the culinary and life skills training needed to pursue a full-time sustainable career in the food industry.

Position Overview

This is an internship for the Spring 2025 semester

The Marketing Internship offers students the opportunity to promote Plate Above Catering, a social enterprise that supports Second Harvest's Culinary Training Program and contributes to the fight against hunger.

The Marketing intern works with the Community Kitchen Marketing Manager to create and publish compelling content that inspires and engages existing and new customers to book Plate Above Catering for their next event. This may be written or visual communication to fit a variety of initiatives, campaigns, programs and events. Additionally, this role will help craft the sales story of Plate Above's chef-inspired dishes and world-class service through event content capturing, email automation journeys and on social media.

Responsibilities

Create and publish written and visual content for newsletters, blogs, and social mediaConceptualize and implement social media campaigns using Facebook, Instagram, and PinterestInterview and photograph stakeholders, clients, and social enterprise customers to capture mission moments. This may include volunteers, Culinary Training Program students, Catering customers, and e-commerce products.Capture content at event sites and during pre-event prepRequirements

Requirements

Current college or university student or recent graduate (within one year)Preferred majors include Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Writing/English and other related majorsStrong Interpersonal and analytical skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Photography and videography skills are a plusKnowledge of graphics programs (PhotoShop, Canva, Adobe Spark) a plus
