The Technical Writer creates technical documentation and information about Tyler software products, services, and policies and procedures. The Technical Writer is ultimately responsible for producing accurate content. The Technical Writer must ensure delivery of content that meets the established guidelines and is completed on-time and meets all standards of Tyler quality.

Researches, writes, gathers, organizes, and edits content that can be repurposed for use as product information, online help, training materials, e-learning components, support content, proposals, policies/procedures, and other knowledge assets.Works with other members of the department to plan and schedule projects and with other department staff to ensure consistent and accurate information.Gathers user feedback and enhances usability of software by choosing the content and media most appropriate to the respective user audience.Produces content that conforms to established guidelines and best practices.Proofreads and copyedits content for proper use of grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines.Tests content for accuracy and usability.Assists in improving and documenting departmental processes and style guide.Participates in cross-department teams focused on product improvement such as sprint planning and/or demo sessions with Software Engineering team.Maintains a knowledge base of accurate and approved content.Updates internal documentation resources as assigned by the Manager.Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.Demonstrate the ability to multitask, produce quality work, and work under a deadline.Demonstrate the ability to research and write content as well as learn and use the department software.Demonstrate the ability to work with other people within the company and have knowledge of department styles and basic industry standards.Follow department standards and communicate effectively with the other members of the department as well as others outside of the department.Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also actively participate in a team, including teams outside of the department.Demonstrate the flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing environment and learn new concepts and software systems quickly.Demonstrate the ability to follow and make decisions based on established guidelines, and analyze and refine departmental processes.Demonstrate the ability to write content clearly and accurately with strong audience orientation.Complete tasks with some direction from the Manager and/or other members of the department.Demonstrate proficient knowledge of technical writing concepts and technologies obtained through formal training and work experience.Demonstrate proficient knowledge of technical/business environment and business processes that are supported by the department.Demonstrate excellent partnering, communicating, and negotiating skills in order to gather business requirements and communicate effectively with other departments in order to successfully complete projects.Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a strong customer service/team-oriented environment.Document and communicate assigned work and progress to immediate project team and management.Qualifications

BS/BA degree in English, Technical Writing, Communication, Journalism, or related field.A minimum of two years of experience in the field or in a related area.A minimum of one year of experience producing online help systems or other web-based content preferred.Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred, or two years’ Tyler software experience.Working knowledge and understanding of Agile development.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to multi-task, adhere to strict deadlines, and work under pressure.Strong written and verbal English language skills (grammar, syntax, usage, and style issues).Ability to write technical content clearly and accurately.Strong experience with other advanced word processing (such as Microsoft Office), online help authoring tools (such as MadCap Flare), and web applications preferred.Experience with development project management software such as Jira preferred.
