Job Description

The Director of Digital Content & Strategy is a leadership role within the Office of University Communications responsible for establishing and executing the digital content strategy for the University’s website. This Director is directly responsible for the content strategy and implementation for all official Boston College websites (http://www.bc.edu) and provides guidance to more than 200 website editors to ensure alignment with university standards and industry best practices. The Director of Digital Content & Strategy reports to the Managing Director of Web Services in the Office of University Communications.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range:

$90,100 to $112,600; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Leadership and ManagementBA/BS in relevant business or higher education-related field required.5 years managing web communications in a fast-paced, results-driven agency, communication office, public affairs office or similar outward-facing organization.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-focused, deadline-oriented environment; the ability to effectively manage complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects and competing priorities.Strong organizational and project management skills; strong problem-solving skills; high quality standards and attention to detail.Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.Communication and StrategyExperience establishing and executing content strategy for large, complex websites.Strong presentation and facilitation skills.Skilled at diplomacy; ability to handle the conflicting needs of multiple constituents.Strong writing and editorial skills.Strong problem-solving and support skills.Strong verbal communication skills; practices active listening.Experience with user testing and requirements analysis as well as interaction and visual design and user testing.Experience reporting in Google Analytics and using findings to inform IA and content strategy.Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.Experience conducting interviews and focus groups and translating these into website goals.Technology and ImplementationExtensive, hands-on experience building web pages using a content management system (Adobe Experience Manager preferred).Experience creating a website information architecture.Familiarity with user experience best practices.Experience with Photoshop, image compression.Experience with web accessibility best practices.Understanding of digital advertising and social media best practices.
