This developer will be an expert PHP and WordPress developer. This developer will be part of a team that includes front end developers and will build functional features and integrations and will have responsibility for site architecture and performance.What You'll Do
Develop custom site features to meet the needs of our stakeholdersCreate enterprise-level WordPress plugins and themes primarily using PHP and Gutenberg blocks with React.jsBuild integrations with internal and external systems via APIsDetermine technical direction and guide on decisions to write custom code or leverage community contributed codeApply the highest level of security to the code you deliverDebug across a wide range of browsers and devicesImplement WordPress, PHP, and JavaScript best practices across projectsFoster a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing, where people are encouraged to share in a respectful mannerCraft high-quality code with an emphasis on readability, efficiency, and maintainabilityMonitor the performance of the live websiteRequirements
You should have advanced PHP expertise and prior professional experience using itExperience in WordPress engineering, including PHP, React.js, and Gutenberg block development, following best practicesYou are skilled at debugging performance and caching issues across various environmentsYou have experience designing site architectures with a focus on scalability and maintainability best practicesYou are comfortable using a Unix command lineExperience building localized websitesStrong communication skills to communicate technical concepts with non-developersYou value autonomy and have the self-management skills to operate independently in a fully remote roleExperience designing and maintaining systems for site updates that have thorough testing and quality assuranceYou appreciate order and efficiency but have an action-oriented approachProactive approach to learning, growth, and sharingYou should be proficient with Git and version control, capable of performing typical operations such as branching, merging, submitting code for peer review, and reviewing peers' codeExperience interacting with RESTful APIs and data formats (JSON, XML)A minimum of five (5) years of experience developing WordPress websitesNice to Have
Modern JavaScript and Typescript (React and Node) is a plusExperience developing Gutenberg Blocks in a modern WordPress environmentFront end development experienceSEO knowledgeUX/UI knowledgeComfortable working with MySQL, importing and exporting data, and optimizing database queriesExperience with various caching systems and content-delivery networks is a plusPerks & Benefits

Base pay: $95,000 - $135,000The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions.
