Please make sure you read the following details carefully before making any applications.Job Title: Structural DesignerJob Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, TX 77034Primary Function: Perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in structural drafting of steel structures and concrete foundations. Successful candidates may be placed in a Designer I, II or III titles depending on skill and experience level.Duties & Responsibilities Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standardsOversee project-specific activities of drafters and more junior designersResearch information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference materialCalculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasksDevelop design documents, drawings, and bills of materialsLearn and use task-specific softwareLearn and properly use the document management systemTake personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her workBring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible partyTravel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments; travel will be minimalOther duties as requiredMinimum Qualifications / ExperienceCertificate in Drafting and/or Design is required; equivalent experience with AutoCAD may be considered in lieu of certificate. Associate's degree in Drafting/Design is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of civil/structural design is required; substation design experience is preferred.

Possess skills in the following areas:Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required. Experience with Microstation V8 & V8i is preferredExperience in structural drafting of steel structures and concrete foundationsKnowledge of the types of drawings required for foundation and steel constructionKnowledge of the major components of a substation is preferredBasic knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (AISC and ACI)Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometryBasic oral and written communicationsWord processing, spread sheet, and e-mail softwareWorking in a team environmentCommunicating effectively with co-workersPhysical Requirements:
