Learn more about the general tasks related to this opportunity below, as well as required skills.Job Title: Civil DesignerJob Location: 720 E Butterfleld STE 200, Lombard, IL 60148Primary Function: The Civil designer will perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CAD will be required.Duties & Responsibilities Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervisionResearch information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference materialCalculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasksLearn and properly use the document management systemLearn and apply corporate standard engineering practicesTake personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her workBring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible partyTravel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignmentsOther duties as requiredMinimum Qualifications / Experience:Associates degree in drafting & Design is required. Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required. Experience with Microstation or PLS-CADD is a plus.Possess skills in the following areas:Civil drafting experience for structural substation and transmission line projects is preferredWord processing, spread sheet, and e-mail softwareMathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometryExtensive knowledge of various CADD programsBasic knowledge of the major components of a substationBasic oral and written communicationsBasic knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substationWorking in a team environmentCommunicating effectively with co-workersEqual Employment Opportunity:Dashiell is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
