Areas of Responsibility:
Direct the OCC Choir, which sings 3-4 Sundays per month from September through May;
Collaborate with the Minister(s) regarding the musical components of worship services, vocal and instrumental (except for solo pieces selected and performed by the organist/pianist).
Is the Staff Person with Primary Responsibility for the Following Activities:
Select all music to be sung by the choir, whenever possible coordinating with scripture of weekly sermon and and/or the season;
Conduct the OCC Choir during weekly rehearsals and worship services,
Assist with the planning of special music for select services, including appearances by guest artists, the OCC Praise Band, the OCC Quartet, etc.;
Plan special musical programs for Lent and Advent;
Purchase anthems and orchestra scores;
Provide all music information for weekly bulletin;
Attend monthly staff meetings;
Provide input for the music budget;
Recruit choir members.
Is a Contributing Staff Person in Support of the Following Activities:
Hymn selection – advise ministers, if requested.
Work with the Associate Minister and others to occasionally involve children and/or youth as presenters of special music.
Other duties as agreed upon.
Qualifications:
Experience in choral conducting
Degree in Music Education preferred
Experience in a church setting preferred
Accountability:
Report to the Senior Minister upon request.
Report to all meetings of the Music Committee.
Report to any other boards or committees upon request.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $12,000.00 per year
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
