Full-Time and Part-TimeJOB SUMMARY:Intermediate piping designers will be expected to perform drafting and design related work, both 2D and 3D, with a moderate amount of guidance from Sr. Designers and Project Engineers. They will also help train and provide guidance to Jr. Designers and Drafters.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Perform project related duties as assigned by the Piping Supervisor or Sr. Designers.Perform field work including taking manual field dimensions, shooting elevations with a level instrument, and laser scanning. Expected to maintain field notes and field information in a clear, usable, and retrievable form.P&ID Drafting.Develop piping related project lists: Line List, Tie-in List, Piping SP Item List, Drawing List.Create Tie-in sketches and Demo Sketches.Create 3D CAD models (Model existing components, equipment, and new piping utilizing field work and/or laser scans).Create Piping Plans, Sections, and Details.Create Piping Isometrics.Incorporate marks and comments from checkers.Assist Sr. Designers with developing estimates.Train junior designers and drafters.Advise supervisor of training needs.Complete assigned work correctly, on time and within the estimated man-hours.Coordinate with other Chemic disciplines to resolve questions and complete assignments.Perform additional duties as required and requested.Continually increase piping design knowledge.REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 1 manual drafting and two AutoCAD classes.Classes in an Autocad based 3D modeling programs is a plus (Plant3D, CadWorx).AAS in Drafting Technology or Technical School certificate is a plus.Classes in piping design and plant layout are a plus.

SKILLS:

Must have good communication skills (verbal and written).Must have good computer skills with basic proficiency in Windows and MS Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook).Must be proficient in Autocad and 3D Modeling software, preferably Cadworx or Plant3D, and be able to draft and model with precision.Must have a good knowledge of the piping components, materials, ratings, etc. commonly used in the petrochemical industry.Must have good knowledge of drafting symbology used for PFDs, P&IDs, (Including Instrumentation), piping plans, sections, details, and isometrics.Must be able to identify common piping components in the field (Pipe, Valves, Fittings, Instruments).Must be able to comprehend engineering related specifications and reference manuals and apply to design applications.Must have experience in executing field work and field survey related activities.

EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) or more years piping drafting/design experience, preferably in petrochemical/chemical plants and refineries. Prefer some field survey experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Approximately 80% office work and 20% work in operating process facilities and other remote field locations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs (at least one flight) and sit for extended periods of time at a computer. Fluently expressing and exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
