Overview:

The GIS & IS Specialist manages and provides technical information associated with Guardian Medical Transports geographical information systems (GIS); analyzes, develops and maintains Guardian Medical Transport and Guardian Air geographical information databases. This position includes non-emergency vehicle driving.Responsibilities:GIS Management* Leads the development and implementation of Guardian Medical Transport & GA databases for GIS applications and analysis.* Performs digitizing and data manipulation procedures for geographic information systems.* Plans, coordinates, and prepares special projects as assigned, providing initial design sheets and maps to aid other staff members in mapping activities and decision making.* Participates in professional group meetings; maintains current knowledge of new developments in the field of geographic information systems.* Responsible for the development, editing, and distribution of relevant map layer information to other city, county and state agencies.* Provides assistance to map users in the use of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Mapping and Arc GIS mapping software.* Coordinates with Communication Technicians, other PSAPS, City, County and State to edit, maintain, and correct map data to state guideline requirement of 95% accuracy.* Updates maps with new data as it is received (relative to new subdivisions, developments, and other projects).* Conducts map data maintenance.* Conducts mapping research in the field and in the office to resolve conflicting information, ensuring data accuracy.* Creates guidelines for GIS data accrual, organization, and disbursement.* Attends user conference education and user group functions for latest software implementation.* Demonstrates knowledge of converting GIS data and various databases into documents and maps to assist in problem-solving and urban planning.* Maintains knowledge of Guardian Medical Transports Computer Aided Dispatch software, and mapping software.* Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of the different aspects of GIS as it pertains to Public Safety and Emergency Response versus other avenues of implementation.

IT Support* Leads special projects and provides a wide variety of support services to the Director, Supervisor, Battalion Chiefs, Captains, Communication Technicians, and other GMT staff.* Collaborates with GMT & GA Director's to prepare the GIS/IT budget.* Collaborates directly with GMT & GA staff with uploading equipment data into the Zoll system and transferred into emsCharts.* Collaborates directly with GMT & GA staff to ensure 12 Lead EKG's are routed to the Care Point.* Coordinates with NAH IT on GMT & GA project management and support.* Performs daily troubleshooting in support of users on the IT systems, via in person or remotely.* Performs emergency outage planning.* Collaborates with NAH IT on computer replacement as well as computer software upgrade purchasing.* Travels to remote locations for job site work, remote bases.* Performs a comprehensive list of IT technical support and repair maintenance relative to the specialized IT systems used at Guardian Medical Transport and Guardian Air.

Operations Management* Serves as resource/adviser on information systems in resolving end-user problems with other agencies.* Serves as resource to coordinate Zoll data communications in resolving end-user problems.* Collaborates with Fire/EMS agencies and Coconino County PSAPS to ensure accurate response areas and addressing.* Collaborates with Fire/EMS agencies contract fire districts.* Serves as a GIS specialist resource for Wildland Fires.* Attends area GIS coordination meetings.* Coordinates all map street centerline and other GIS data with other dispatch, city, state and federal agencies within our CON.* Supports Communications Center Operations as needed during routine and emergency repairs and maintenance.

Metrics & Analytics Management* Collaborates with the director to ensure that data is extracted from our IT software and formulated into data sets.* Compiles comprehensive metric reports that illustrate current analytics regarding efficient ambulance operations.* Collaborates with the team to assist them with current projects that require data extraction and compilation of reports.* Provides data to our community partners and fire districts to assist them with analytics and metrics for dispatching contracts.* Builds and schedules custom crystal reports.* Provides resources to extract and analyze metrics and analytics from the specialized programs within Guardian Medical Transport and Guardian Air operations.

Compliance/Safety* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.Qualifications:EducationHigh School Diploma or GED and 5 years experience of progressively responsible related experience in designing and building GIS databases, and coursework at a technical or vocational school or through internet technical courses- RequiredAssociates degree in GIS Business Administration, Public Safety Administration, or a closely related field; and 3 years applicable related experience- RequiredBachelors degree in GIS Business Administration, Public Safety Administration, or a closely related field; and 1 year of other applicable related experience- Required

Certification & LicensuresGeographical Information System Professional (GISP) certification- Required
