About the role

We are hiring a Director of Employee Communications to help lead our employee communications team. A significant responsibility of this position will be reimagining and driving an employee communications strategy to better connect with the company's 8,000+ employees with the goal of driving alignment and engagement for our distributed workforce.

The right candidate should be a driven, passionate, strategic, and out-front leader looking to work in a fast-paced, growing company.

The Director of Employee Communications will report to the Sr. Director, Real Estate & Employee Communications and will be an active player on the communications leadership team as well as a critical business partner to various leaders across a variety of organizations including HR, Tech and Sales.

The Director, Employee Communications must have an excellent understanding of Zillow's strategy, an ability to communicate it clearly and effectively, knowledge of change management tools and practices, and the ability to encourage the confidence of the leadership team through their counsel.

Job Responsibilities:Strategic thought partner to company leadership including executives on company priorities and initiatives, providing communications counsel and strategy for broad internal Zillow Group employee base.Develop and scale an employee communications strategy crafted to serve a distributed, in alignment with the company's CloudHQ strategyDeveloping and implementing communications strategies that creatively drive business objectives, culture and employee engagementGrowing employee understanding of major strategic business initiativesElevate visibility of company executives internally through executive communications strategy in close partnership with the Corporate Communications teamServing as a trusted liaison for multiple, sophisticated lines of business and providing counsel to executive leadersBuilding campaigns and strategic plans to drive engagement and action from employeesLeading a team with a high volume of work and high impact to the companyThis role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $167,900.00 - $268,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

12+ years of experience in communications with experience driving internal communications teams with a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or MarketingCan develop strategy, demonstrate initiative and secure buy-in from partners of all levels, including executive leadershipShown leadership experience leading internal teams as well as budgets to achieve successExcellent writer able to draft nuanced communications on a variety of topics; skilled communicator, with shown experience in business communicationsAbility to effectively navigate through ambiguity; decides and acts without having the picture totally defined; appropriately changes strategy in response to new information.Drives for results - makes things happen and conveys a sense of urgency.Passion for leadership and developing high impact teams.High standards for design and writing, utmost attention to detail, and ability to accelerate projects and multi-taskCreative problem solver with a focus on solutions that bring company strategy and culture to lifeCommitted to achieving goals and skilled in effective communication within the company, at all levels.Ability to execute work using different types of employee engagement channels (Slack, video, Zoom, slides, email, etc.)Strong experience speech/ghostwriting for executives and mentor speakers to excelSensitivity, emotional intelligence and understanding for a diverse group of people across all levels, departments and geographiesEntrepreneurial, collaborative, hands-on style, with an eye toward action and improvementExperience driving internal live, virtual and hybrid events with knowledge of live event production is a plus
