Job Description

Are you a tech-savvy creative passionate about storytelling and pushing the boundaries of multimedia production? Join the Creative x Communications team at ASU Enterprise Technology, the university’s central IT division, where we leverage technology to serve our community.

We’re seeking a motivated, self-driven Multimedia Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll focus on videography, photography, social media, and content creation. You will use your creative expertise to produce compelling multimedia content, streamline production workflows, and foster collaborative efforts. With strong creative vision, technical proficiency, and mastery of advanced tools, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality videos, photography and interactive media.

Additionally, you will have access to advanced tools, including AI, to enhance all aspects of multimedia production, from concept development to final output. This includes generating innovative ideas, creating detailed storyboards, and developing engaging scripts. You will also produce animations and motion graphics, ensuring efficient and high-quality production. Integrating AI tools for sound design and project management will be key as you continuously learn and adopt new technologies to stay at the forefront of the industry.

Your work will also be instrumental in transforming educational content through multimedia, gaining visibility across the broader ASU community and showcasing the role of technology in education.

Salary Range

$55,000 - $65,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

Concept development:

Use brainstorming tools to generate innovative concepts and ideas that align with project goals and assist in creating detailed storyboards by automating layout suggestions and visual flow.

Utilize advanced editing tools, including AI, to generate and refine scripts for videos, podcasts, and other multimedia content, ensuring engaging and coherent storytelling. Create high-quality visual content, such as images, video clips, animations, and graphics, to support Enterprise Technology’s storytelling and marketing initiatives.

Creation, design and illustration:

Design, create, edit and deliver engaging multimedia and web-based graphics, videos, sound elements and capturing photography that adheres to ASU brand standards.

Develop layout/template design concepts and select appropriate illustrative, photographic, and sound materials.

Apply AI tools to maintain a consistent visual style across all design elements, ensuring brand alignment.

Leverage AI tools to repurpose existing content into different formats, such as transforming written articles into videos or podcasts, maximizing content utility and reach.

Technology integration and collaboration:

Support in-person operations of studios, maintaining and troubleshooting multimedia studio technologies.

Stay informed on the latest multimedia tools and trends to provide innovative ideas and recommendations.

Collaborate with multimedia team members at Enterprise Technology and across the ASU enterprise, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Social media platform development:

Develop content for our social media presence on Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube to increase followers and engagement by creating and executing strategies that drive audience growth and interaction across our platforms.

Collaborate with the CxC team members to produce engaging, high-quality, and platform-specific content (videos, graphics, and posts) that resonate with target audiences.

Stay updated on social media trends, tools, and emerging platforms, integrating them into our strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

Culture and Collaboration:

Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms.

Collaborate across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Media Communications, Film or Video Production, Design, or Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, or a closely related field AND two years of progressive experience GRAPHICS (Proficiency) Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator - or - VIDEO (Proficiency) video/audio production. OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

Evidence of storytelling capabilities in capturing effective interview content through video shooting, editing, and production, with the ability to manage and actively participate in photo and video shoots.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications and a strong understanding of web design standards, including proficiency in Drupal.

Operational knowledge of video, sound, and podcasting production/recording equipment.

Experience in professional photography techniques and photo editing software.

Experience utilizing generative AI tools to create engaging, high-quality visual content and personalized, immersive multimedia experiences.

Experience developing and executing growth strategies for social media platforms, specifically Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, to increase followers, engagement, and audience interaction.

Evidence of effective communication and collaboration skills.

Experience in work that requires organizational and project management skills.

An AI evangelist with a solid working knowledge of its applications in storytelling.

Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence.

Experience working in a values-led organization, emphasizing equity, inclusion and belonging.

Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive.

Working Environment

Primary location is at our Tempe Campus 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Hybrid schedule as determined by supervisor and within ASU/Enterprise Technology guidelines.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking

May include exposure to external environment/climate conditions including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing and high temperatures.

VIDEO: Essential duties may also require location work which may occur in adverse weather conditions.

Locations may be interior/exterior in perhaps rugged conditions.

Fragile electronic equipment must be transported both manually and with the assistance of portage devices.

Operation of video and photographic equipment may be handheld for extended periods.

Some equipment, such as lighting and cabling, can be dangerous during operation and setup. Regular review of completed tasks.
