Job Title: Technical DesignerJob Description
Execute project deliverables within the project schedule as coordinated by the project manager. Coordinate documentation that captures design decisions while addressing the 3D space holistically, including functionality, alignment with programmatic needs, and the integration of materials, volumes, and performance. Possess basic knowledge of spatial requirements, program requirements, design, and construction standards. Problem-solve conflicts to align with design intent. Create design documentation from the Schematic through the Construction Administration phase under the oversight of the project manager. This includes CAD drafting and external coordination with vendors. Understand product data and commercial requirements, such as durability, installation methods, appropriate application, and code compliance. Coordinate design documentation to adhere to standard construction methods and detailing for implementation. Collaborate with the design team to resolve issues during the documentation process. Execute custom furniture and fixture details to align with design direction as directed by the project manager. Review drawings from outside consultants, including architects, drafting, millwork, and custom furniture. Assist in creating redlines and support the Project Manager and/or Job Captain with shop drawing review, submittals, and RFIs.
Hard Skills

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Chicago, Illinois and some days remote.
Work Environment
Start time between 8:00-9:00am with flexible hours for those commuting from the suburbs. Average workload of 42-45 hours per week, busier during deadlines. Schedule includes Monday to Thursday in-office and Friday work from home. The organization structure includes a visionary leader, a Creative Director, and a Technical Director. The creative team typically owns FF&E specifications, while the technical team handles millwork, furniture detailing, and built-in drawings. The studio focuses mainly on restaurants and hotels, with some high-end luxury homes. Consultants receive 10 days of PTO in the first year, increasing with tenure, and 10.5 days of holiday pay. Additional time off includes the week between Christmas and New Year's, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and a birthday half day.
