POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general supervision of the Communications Manager, the Multimedia Specialist is responsible for producing and distributing multimedia content, with initial emphasis on photo and graphic design, targeted to a wide variety of audiences that effectively increases their understanding and use of the City of Hutto services, programs and processes. Produce audio/visual and graphic media that strategically build support for the City of Hutto brand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESConduct photo and video shoots in a wide variety of settings with varying objectivesSupport all phases of multimedia production, including concept and storyboarding to planning, scheduling, casting, scouting, filming/recording, editing, graphics, gaining feedback/approvals, distributing/posting, and evaluatingPositively impact both public and employee relations through strategically planned content; collaborate effectively with key personnel across all divisions on a wide variety of projectsManage a detailed calendar in a highly organized manner with multiple A/V projects, utilizing strong communication and technology/software skillsAssist in the development and maintenance of multimedia archiveAssist in building and maintaining a diverse portfolio of branded visual assetsProduce photos, videos, graphics, displays, publications, presentations, web content and other media that strategically build understanding of and support for the cityEnsure deliverables follow best practices (specifications, size, file type) for the intended platformsWork flexible hours occasionally, to include nights, weekends, or holidays, to attend after-hours city meetings/events a few times a month to capture photos or footage and complete project objectives (schedule may be flexible to accommodate these assignments)Keep current on best practices and emerging trends in relevant marketing, design, A/V gear, technology, and measurement/evaluationOther duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of photography: well-versed in both portraiture and eventsIntermediate knowledge of graphic design/design principlesBeginner to intermediate knowledge, or interest in, lighting, audio, video, and editing tools and techniquesBeginner to intermediate knowledge, or interest in, video equipment and functionalitiesBeginner to intermediate knowledge, or interest in, script writing and creative writingKnowledge of digital marketing strategies and public relations principlesAdvanced skill in using computers, software and related technologySkilled in planning, organizing and prioritizingAbility to monitor, measure and evaluate the effectiveness of digital communicationsAbility to work with frequent interruptions and changes in prioritiesAbility to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees, stakeholders, leaders, vendors, and the publicSkilled in verbal and written communicationKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service; this includes assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfactionEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, & LICENSES

Bachelor's degree preferred, with a preferred focus in Photography, Graphic Design, Radio, Television, and Film (RTF), Marketing, Art, or Journalism from an accredited college or universityMinimum of 1 year of full-time experience (or equivalent) in photography or multimedia production requiredREQUIRED TECHNOLOGY COMPETENCIES

Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop required; experience in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Illustrator preferredMicrosoft Office preferred, especially Teams and OutlookBasic Content Management System (CMS) knowledge preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily sedentary, requiring an individual to sit at a desk for long periods of time, working on a computer. Multimedia production days may require long hours of standing, in various weather conditions, and the setup and breakdown of gear. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, walk, see, hear and work in indoor and outdoor conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
