Geographic Information Systems Technician

Summary:The main duties and responsibilities of the GIS Technician are to assist in cartographic, analytical, and statistical processes using GIS software and techniques within a team environment under the direct supervision of the assigned Team Lead. The ideal candidate will work alone or as a team on GIS geoprocessing, data collection interpretation and conversions, and data editing.Required Qualifications:1-3 years of professional experience in GISSpatial analysis and cartographic presentations and other representations of dataData compilation and entry to create, maintain, convert, display, and update GIS GDB feature classes and metadataAssist with data gathering and compilation, GPS, mapping, and basic data analysisVisual analysis or map queries to locate features, resolve conflicting information, and ensure data accuracyRecording and documenting details of map updates and additions/deletionsDocumenting and applying standard operating procedures for data processes and QA/QCBachelors in GIS, Geography, or Computer Science, or GIS Certificate or Associate degree with related work experienceHigh attention to detail, time management, and organizational skillsBasic level of Esri ArcGIS capabilities and technical solutionsIntermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office SuiteDesired Qualifications:Creation of web-based applications or solutionsGIS database structure, design, schemas, and queriesVersioned Enterprise Geodatabase editing experienceFamiliarity with electric, gas, or water utilitiesFamiliarity with Python, SQL, FME, AutoCAD, or PLS-CADDFamiliarity with ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, and Enterprise Geodatabases
