Communications Specialist/Editor

to support the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) in Bethesda, Maryland.The Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) was established in January 2008 by the Secretary of Defense in response to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2008. The VCE was designed to lead and advocate for programs and initiatives with the following three inter-related goals: to improve vision health, optimize readiness, and enhance quality of life for Service members and Veterans. Through its efforts, VCE promotes collaboration, facilitates integration, and serves as an advocate for vision across DoD and Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare systems. VCE's collaborative efforts with other federal healthcare organizations, academia, and private sector organizations serve to enhance the development of program priorities supporting research and quality care initiatives.What You'll Do in Your New Role

Develop digital media, articles, and clinical education fact sheets.Support the development and continuously update a Digital Media Content Document (DMCD). The DMCD shall consist of digital images, key messages, a minimum of three (3) articles, social media messaging, infographics, and other related informational products.Write, edit, and proofread communication materials, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media content.Collaborate with clinical program subject matter experts to develop, vet, and finalize articles, graphics, and other clinical content to be used on public facing websites hosted at health.mil, SharePoint hosted on Defense Health Agency Launchpad, and other digital platforms (e.g., MilSuite).Maintain and update the content on the website and a graphics library on SharePoint.Continue and/or enhance and document the revised process for the development of publications, including timeline for creation, review and approvals, and Public Affairs Office (PAO) approval.Support the development and maintain educational fact sheets.Maintain a list approved by the Government team lead of all Manuals, Fact Sheets, Courses, Practice Recommendations and Clinical Practice Guidelines, Computer Based Training Modules, and other documents requiring an annual review, and perform that review on each of the documents and provide determination that the document is still current or requires revision.Required Qualifications
