Position Information:

WESM-91.3 FM, a public radio station on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and part of Delmarva Public Media, invites applicants for the position of Music Director. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary is $65,000 annually. Responsibilities

Host daily music program (Mondays-Fridays) on WESM 91.3 FM.

On-air Jazz Hosting.

Track music with promoters and artists and report what gets played to Jazzweek.com.

Audition new releases and acquire music for library.

Ensure compliance with Music Rights agreements.

Produce timely features and interviews with artists for broadcast and website.

Assist with station production needs.

Represent station at community and/or station/University sponsored events.

Work with Program Director/CCO to help improve and evolve the musical formats and selections at WESM and Delmarva Public Media’s other two stations (WSDL and WSCL).

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

BA or BS degree.

Extensive knowledge of Jazz and familiarity with other genres such as blues, world, soul, urban alternative, AAA, and classical.

Charismatic On-Air Personality, Professional Team Player, and a Passionate Media Professional who understands public media's role in rural and coastal communities.

Preferred Qualifications

On-Air, Production, and Broadcast Experience.

Knowledge of Public Radio Formats and ENCO automation is a plus.

Background in working with students and a willingness to train and develop projects with them.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Musically diverse background with a vision for growing “the sound” of these stations.

Skilled in interviewing and fundraising.

Skilled in audio production.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
