The

Senior Manager of External Communications, Earned Media

will be US based and will join our global team, reporting to the Head, Global External Communications. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering DXC’s external communication strategy. The ideal candidate will be adept at writing and editing, crafting compelling narratives in clear, accessible language, building and nurturing media relationships and securing positive media coverage. With 10+ years of experience in communications, and a strong track record of successful proactive media engagement in the technology space, the candidate will play a key role in elevating our brand and driving our external communication efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development:

Help develop and implement a comprehensive external communication strategy that supports the company and aligns with brand positioning.

Content Creation:

Craft clear, compelling, and persuasive media materials including narratives, messaging, media statements, press releases and other communications for external use.

Media Relations:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, journalists, and influencers, particularly with technology and business media. Act as one of the primary points of contact for incoming media inquiries and proactively pitch news and stories to relevant media.

Measurement:

Leveraging tools, analyze press coverage against identified KPIs. Prepare reports offering insights on media trends and coverage quality.

Issues Management:

Support the development and execution of communication strategies during events of impact to the company.

Collaboration:

Work closely with internal stakeholders, including senior executives, marketing, and product teams, to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication strategies.

Team Leadership:

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and coordinate with global communications teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Experience:

10+ years of experience in communications or public relations, with a proven track record of successful proactive media engagement and managing external communications. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into straightforward, compelling messages.

Media Savvy:

Strong understanding of media landscapes and relationships, with demonstrated success in media placements.

Strategic Thinking:

Ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans and adapt to changing priorities and challenges.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in technology communications.

Proactive, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.

Compensation:

A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $114,200 - $212,000. Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program, which includes health, dental, and vision insurance coverage; employee wellness; life and disability insurance; a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off.
