While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.ACS Publications is a Division of the ACS and publishes 85+ high-quality peer-reviewed journals covering the breadth of chemistry and allied fields, as well as numerous other high-quality products and services.Job Summary:C&EN is looking for a talented Executive Editor, Policy and Regulation, to join our team of Executive Editors who lead teams on Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Business.Primary Job Accountabilities – What You’ll Do:Coordinate C&EN’s coverage of regulation and science policy.Help conceive, shape, and edit content across a range of formats.Work with executive editors and platform editors to ensure C&EN is covering major news developments.Oversee the quality of work and professional development of the team of policy reporters.Work with C&EN’s art directors and creative team to deliver the optimal experience for our audience.Work with analytics and marketing teams to contribute to audience development targets.Nurture contacts in the regulatory and science policy communities.Contribute to editorial strategy decisions across the newsroom.What You’ll Bring – Education & Skills:An undergraduate degree in chemistry or a related scientific field.Strong editorial judgment, journalistic values and ethics, and oral communication skills.Knowledge of SEO and social media best practices.Dynamic and proactive self-starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.What You’ll Bring – Experience:A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a government or policy journalist.Experience conceptualizing, developing, and shaping powerful stories.Experience managing journalists through organizational change is highly desired.What You Can Expect:ACS believes in the strength of diversity and encourages people from diverse backgrounds to apply.Job location:

Some travel (up to 15%) within country.This role is based in our Washington, DC office.
