Summary The Congressional Research Service (CRS), Congressional Programs and Communications Office, of the Office of the Director (DIR) is seeking a Multimedia Production Specialist. The ideal candidate provides technical support in the pre-production, production, and post-production phases for video content. Responsibilities The Multimedia Production Specialist will assist with audiovisual production for CRS events (including lighting, video recording, and audio mixing); recording, editing and producing audio and video content for Congress and CRS employees; and providing administrative support for multimedia-related activities. The DIR Congressional Programs and Communications Office is responsible for activities including, but not limited to the following: Coordinating over 250 programs and seminars for Congress each year; Producing videos and podcasts to inform Congress; Engaging in outreach to Congress, including developing and presenting information about CRS programs, products and services; and, Managing media relations, social media, websites and internal communications. Individuals with multimedia production experience and knowledge of public policy and the U.S. Congress are strongly encouraged to apply. Multimedia Production Specialist duties include: Ability to communicate orally and in writing to both technical and non-technical staff concerning multimedia activities. Knowledge in providing technical support in the capture, edit, and presentation of CRS Congressional and internal programs, videos, and podcasts. Ability to provides technical support in the video pre-production, production, and postproduction. Knowledge in production support in the form of audio equipment operation, setup production planning, on-location staffing needs and equipment maintenance. Ability to provide technical support in the capture, edit, and presentation of CRS Congressional and internal programs, videos, and podcasts. Knowledge in operation of professional audio and video recording equipment, digital format conversion, video capture, audio capture and enhancement, video content edit, and presentation technologies. Ability to advise on the technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction, suggesting those that will best meet the information objectives of each project. The position description number for this position is 459221. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. The incumbent of this position may work a flexitime or compflex work schedule. The tour of duty for this position is full-time. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position. Education Additional Information Although it is the Library's policy to afford the maximum pay benefit to employees when setting rates of pay, a new appointee who has had no previous Federal service will generally be paid at step one of the grade.
