Job Purpose:
We are growing our Media, Sports, & Entertainment (MSE) team, which is a part of our Financial and Valuation Advisory Group, covering all of our valuation and financial opinion service lines for entertainment, music, sports, video games, casino gaming, media, broadcasting and publishing, among other sectors. Our clients run the gamut, from early-stage businesses and midsize companies to large, publicly traded corporations. We understand that an industry driven by innovation and change requires the sophistication of an advisor who can think ahead of the market and utilize solid industry relationships to drive value for clients.
As a Senior Vice President, you will generate new business and manage client engagement teams, which range in size from two to five members. The group focuses on complex valuation and analysis related to MSE. This is an exciting opportunity to help build our practice and leverage the interconnectivity of our investment banking platform.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Serve as principal on client engagements and oversee client deliverables
Manage day-to-day tasks and project management for client engagement teams
Review board and internal committee review presentations
Direct efforts of Vice Presidents, Associates, and Financial Analysts including review of valuation and other financial models
Lead sales, marketing, and business development initiatives
Maintain a network with prospects to build a pipeline of revenue producing relationships
Negotiate client engagement agreements
Build complex financial models in excel to assess cash flows of a company and/or value specific securities specific to MSE
Present analyses and conclusions internally to review committees and externally to clients’ senior management, Board of Directors, and auditors/tax advisors to clients
Lead client due diligence meetings
Develop project approach, methodologies, and analytical frameworks
Perform complex valuation projects utilizing methods including comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and discounted cash flow analysis
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of professional experience (with significant client business valuation responsibilities) at an investment bank, Big 4 accounting firm (in the valuation group), or a valuation firm
Direct Media, Sports and Entertainment valuation experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Strong knowledge of Excel modeling
Strong knowledge of M&A, valuation, accounting, and applied financial theory
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Current book of business with drive to grow on our platform
Practical experience with financial opinions and valuations in the Media, Sports, & Entertainment industry
Experience with investment banking, valuation firm and/or Big Four in valuation/transaction opinions in a leadership capacity
Experience with project management and managing high performing teams
A proven track record of business development and building client relationships
Knowledge of fairness and solvency opinions and purchase price allocations
MBA and other advanced degrees
Intellectually curious and self-motivated
Strong analytical abilities
Excellent understanding of financial statements analysis with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations
An exceptional work ethic
Salary Range:
Houlihan Lokey is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive total compensation package, which may include other components such as discretionary incentive compensation. The firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible salary range for this role at the time of posting is: $180,000.00-$225,000.00
Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.
