Your Role:
Xylem seeks to hire a
Mechanical
Designer
who will work within a multi-disciplinary regional team consisting of a Territory Manager, Applications Engineer, Project Engineer, and Project Manager. This position will be located at the Global Water Center in Milwaukee, WI. This position is responsible for creating mechanical design equipment and fabrication drawings for aeration and biological projects in accordance with company established specifications and industry standards.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is to expedite construction and fabrication drawings along with bills of material and other documentation for the installation of aeration and biological equipment in new or existing facilities.
Creates submittal and fabrication drawings utilizing AutoCAD and PTC Creo.
Works on projects under the supervision of the mechanical design supervisor, engineers and Senior/Lead Designers.
Check component and assembly drawings of other department personnel as needed.
Conduct routine investigations relative to designs based on internal and customer requirements.
Revision control on all CAD files
Make recommendations to improve product cost, quality and manufacturing efficiency
Work with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot and resolve any design issues
Create and maintain all drawing files and keep them updated according to Company procedures
Support the project execution team in review of plans and specifications, entry into standard product calculations and documentation
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Associate’s degree in Design, Drafting or related technical field with at least three (3) years of experience in custom manufacturing environment with emphasis on stainless steel, PVC and CPVC piping.
Proficient in 2D AutoCAD and has worked in 3D modeling such as PTC CREO or SolidWorks.
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and work independently
Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
