THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic, challenge-driven, and seasoned professional individual to join our team as a Global Sr. Manager for Filtration, Membranes, and Media. The position is a key aspect of our business operation and critical to our business as these categories continue to grow at a fast pace. This person with have a demonstrated track record in Procurement and Project Management and will be reporting to our Sr. Director, Global Category Management, working in strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, leading complex and varied procurement projects within the Category.
In this role, you’ll be pivotal in the development of our Global Supply Chain strategy, through the analysis, implementation and continuous improvement of the end-to-end value chain solution while leading a team of regional / global category managers.
The candidate will be responsible for further development of the category managers and have responsibility for supplier performance across the total spend of these Categories. This includes, but is not limited to:
Driving the overall Category performance in forming and executing global sourcing strategies for all categories within you responsibilities, and its sub-tier commodity families.
Developing partnerships with key suppliers of each global Category within their responsibility
Provide leadership and drive the execution of strategy via cross-organizational collaboration resulting in improvement of supplier quality, delivery, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) performance via competitive quoting, negotiations, contracting and leveraging executive supplier relationships.
Must have excellent leadership, organization, project management, communication and negotiation skills with a solid understanding of procurement / sourcing and category management methodologies.
Must also be a strong negotiator with the ability to drive value for business partners and suppliers and display strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative / integrative style of working to accomplish objectives.
Must also have ability to influence and actively shape strategy along with a proven track record of building credible, reliable, customer focused sources of supply across multiple regions and multiple business units.
Must perform on other key KPI metrics; including Sustainability and Diversity goals, working capital intiatives, Preferred Supplier Program, Supplier Count, Corporate Supplier Agreement expansion and a knowledge of Material Price formulas (MPF’s) critical in addressing raw material during inflationary and deflationary times.
Overall, your mission will be to implement sourcing strategies focused on driving lowest TCO and best-in-class supply chain flexibility. This is a key role in the organization: the processes in scope have a direct impact on profit margins, market share and working capital.
Your Responsibilities:
Develop professional executive-level relationships with key suppliers to not only ensure Xylem maintains access to decision-makers and remains fully informed about market developments but also leverage these for mitigating supply shortages.
Monitor market conditions and set strategies to guard against price and lead-time increases and inflation.
Develop and maintain a system of supplier segmentation (Core vs. non-core, Make vs. Buy) and assess gaps and opportunities within each segment. Make business award decisions based on competing metrics of material availability, inventory levels, payment terms and material cost.
In agreement with sourcing leadership, set performance targets for the group. Represent team progress to stated goals at monthly operating reviews. Benchmark performance targets against industry norms.
As a member of the global sourcing team, engage with the supply chain, operations, R&D, Engineering and global Procurement Leaders whendeveloping global strategies.
Value the Risk Management program and enbrace VAVE, Continuous Improvement (CI) and Sustainability & Diversity goals.
Maintain an effective supply chain consistently that provides our manufacturing facilities with quality material per specification.
Predicting future global trends and disruptions within the Industry. Must work horizontally to stay abreast with changing technology and demand
Drive opportunities to continually create productivity projects and lead the sourcing efforts needed to ensure completion of tasks.
Maintain the existance of a Corporate wide Category Councils.
Your background:
Minimum of 10 – 15 years work related experience in Corporate Procurement Management with focus in Chemicals / Media for filtration systems
A Bachelor’s degree required, major in Supply Chain / Procurement / Engineering / R&D preferred.
At least 5 years of successful project management experience in supply chain, engineering or program management business area in global companies is recommended.
Demonstrated results in attaining year-over-year price reduction or cost savings in the business area supported. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with tangible results.
Strong project management and matrix organization collaboration skills are a must. Must be comfortable with and demonstrated success in leading projects in a matrix organization within a decentralized geographic organization.
Support a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant productivity improvement (Quality, Service Levels, Delivery and Cost) year on year.
Demonstrated success in change management and in building high performance cross functional global work teams.
Possess a decisive goal oriented and priority focus approach.
View teamwork and cross functional partnership as a primary means to achieve objectives.
Ability to analyze spend data and present insights based on the needs of the audience.
Demonstrated strategic sourcing skills in a multi-business, multi-location global environment
Proven ability to adhere to yet be highly effective using a disciplined sourcing process is highly preferred.
Sound knowledge and understanding of purchasing tools, processes, and practices.
Ability to work with cross functional teams such as R&D, NPD sourcing, quality, services, materials etc. to achieve timely project execution.
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously, maintaining timeline.
Travel of up to 35% required.
This Position will report to the Sr. Director, Global Category Management and the location for this position will be in Pittsburgh, PA, however will consider other Xylem Site locations in the the U.S.
This position will have a set of individual and team objectives and goals (both quantitative and qualitative) that he/she is expected to achieve. Performance to such goals is expected to begin shortly after assuming the position. Such goals will be reviewed at least semi-annually with the person’s manager and will be reset as part of the corporation’s annual goal deployment process.
