Design Assistant
Job Overview
:
Our company is searching for a creative and motivated Design Assistant to join our team and work on our design projects for our new Demi service offering. The Design Assistant will work under the direction of the Lead Designer, and will assist in the various aspects of the design process. The role will be remote five (5) days a week with the exception of occasional travel to project sites located across the country. The ideal candidate is passionate about design and has a strong understanding of design principles and techniques. The candidate should have excellent attention to detail, be highly organized, and possess strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
:
Assist in the design process by creating initial concepts, sketches, or layouts
Help with the preparation of design presentations and other visual materials
Produce drawings such as furniture layouts and elevations under the direction of the lead designer
Research design trends, materials, and color schemes
Help maintain project schedules, budgets, and timelines
Support the Lead Designer in liaising with clients and other stakeholders
Help with the organization of project files and documentation
Source fabrics, materials, furniture and accessories based on client input
Order samples and produce sample boards
Enter items in Studio Designer, our procurement software
Confirm design team appointments, organize calendar entries, inspect packages and prep for client meetings
Work with the team to build out our new Demi service offering, including establishing local vendor relationships and client relationships for projects located across the country.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in interior design, interior architecture, or a related field
One (1) to two (2) years of design or architecture experience a plus
Strong proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva and AutoCAD, and Google Suite
Studio Designer experience a plus
Strong creative and time management skills
Experience using Clickup or similar project management software such as Asana, Monday, etc.
Ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously with minimal oversight
Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
Great organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Team player who is excited and willing to help out
Customer service focused empathy – ability to see from the clients’ point of view
Access to a car a plus
Must be able to travel occasionally to project sites located in the United States for installations
Must be able to physically navigate project sites, including ascending and descending stairs, carrying packages or boxes up to 30 lbs in weight, and occasionally standing or moving around continuously for long periods of time, and verbally communicate with clients, contractors and vendors.
