Social Media + Communications Coordinator

Salary: $50,000-$55,000 per year

Location: Lakewood, CO

Job Function:

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) is currently looking for a highly motivated, content-loving, strong writer, and creative to join the marketing team as the Social Media + Communications Coordinator. This role will manage all of RMCAD's social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. Content creation is a big part of this role, which means this individual will need to be proactive with seeking out stories or content to highlight our students and faculty on social media. Experience and confidence in creating TikTok videos and Instagram reels is a must for this position. As part of content gathering, this role will be asked to attend some events that take place after traditional work hours (including weeknights or weekends) and will need to be available to attend the majority of these to capture content. Photography and photo editing skills are preferred for this role.

The Social Media + Communications Coordinator will also support the marketing team with blog writing (two stories minimum per month), newsletter distribution/email campaigns, and website content management - just to name a few additional task items. Experience with the following software's is ideal, but not required: Hootsuite, Asana, WordPress, and Mailchimp.

This individual will collaborate frequently with other departments and students. This is a hybrid position, but will be asked to be on campus at least twice per week on designated in-person days for easy collaboration with the rest of the marketing team.

Success in this role is largely dependent on the individual's confidence with seeking out creative content, staying up-to-date with recent digital media trends, and bringing new creative ideas to the table.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities:

When this job is performed well, the following results will be created:•Ongoing monitoring of all social media channels.•Continue to maintain our social media editorial calendar with creative content, including student work, faculty spotlights and blog content.•Writing two SEO focused blogs per month for the RMCAD website.•Producing a minimum of four TikTok or reels per month.•Maintaining/scheduling multiple newsletters + admission email campaigns on Mailchimp.•Support Marketing with larger projects and initiatives.•Attending major RMCAD events for photography.•Maintaining up-to-date photography files on team shared drive.

Social Media (50%)•Manage RMCAD's social media editorial calendar on Hootsuite.•Gather student, faculty and alumni work and stories to share across all platforms.•Monitor all social media channels daily for comments, messages or requests. Reply in a timely manner.•Compile a quarterly report of RMCAD's organic social media performance.•Share RMCAD's blogs across all social media channels.•Create and publish a minimum of four TikTok or reels per month to share on social media.•Explore opportunities for more video content on our social media channels and opportunities for growth.•Stay up-to-date on social media trends and changes - ensure RMCAD is evolving with these changes.

Blog Writing (20%)•Write a minimum of two SEO-focused blogs per month.•Maintain familiarity with SEO and keyword integration.•Publish approved stories to WordPress - familiarity with this platform preferred but can be taught.•Edit other team members stories.•Manage the blog content calendar in collaboration with our agency.

External Communications (15%)•Responsible for scheduling several monthly newsletters on Mailchimp, including the alumni, blog, student store, and clubs + organizations newsletters.•Own scheduling and promoting all information session email campaigns - with support from admissions.•Own scheduling and promoting all orientation email campaigns - with support from student affairs.•Additional communications tasks, as needed by marketing, admissions or advising teams.

Photography (10%)•Attend the majority of all major RMCAD events to take photography.•Organize classroom photoshoots for up-to-date program photography.•File all consent forms from individuals participating in photoshoots.•Edit and organize all photo content in the Marketing Shared Drive.

Other Marketing Projects (5%)

Qualifications:•BA/BS Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related area.•2+ years' experience in communications, writing and social media.•Self-motivated with experience and skills in content development and copy editing.•Proven ability to manage details, employ efficient work habits, and overall flexibility.•Excellent written and oral communication skills.•Demonstrated effectiveness in working with people, including effective interpersonal communication skills.•Must have an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment.•Familiarity working within web content management systems and social platforms like WordPress, Hootsuite, Asana, or Mailchimp.•Strong copywriter.•Understanding of search engine optimization standards and best practices or interest and ability to learn them.•Must be extremely detail oriented, confidential, impartial, and objective.•Must be able to effectively communicate across departments to ensure timeliness of multiple projects/tasks and shifts within a team environment.•Photography and photo editing skills preferred.•Reliable transportation needed.
