Job Summary
The project manager will oversee communication projects within the Office of Strategic Communications for Advancement tailored to engage, enhance perception and strengthen connections with alumni, donors and friends of the University. This includes managing tasks and timelines for projects, managing an advancement communications calendar and maintenance of online marketing platform.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
Lead the implementation, management and optimization of online marketing platform. Work with communications team for content to develop and execute email marketing plans as directed by campaigns and needs, manage contact lists and track engagement metrics to enhance communication strategies with alumni, donors and friends.
Support the communications team in the creation of compelling content for various channels, including newsletters, social media and direct mail. Ensure messaging aligns with the university’s branding and objectives.
Supports management of all website content, continuously monitoring the integrity of the information. Works with team on designing and implementing interactive pages for special events and captures up-to-date alumni and donor data as needed.
Track and report on project performance, including key metrics and outcomes. Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Coordinates with internal teams for both the USM Foundation and the Alumni Association to align efforts and maximize impact. Serves as the main point of contact for project-related inquiries.
Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during project execution. Implement solutions to mitigate risks and ensure smooth project delivery.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, business marketing, mass communications, public relations or related field. Three years of related experience in the field of communications, public relations or related field including experience in project management, data management or email marketing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Employees of this position are prohibited from disclosing confidential and proprietary information of alumni, donors and prospects, the Foundation, the Alumni Association, the University and its employees or students. This confidentiality obligation is effective while employed in this position and continues after termination of employment.
Team player and capable of sharing and delegating workload during peak times of the year
Good attention to details and the ability to review content and publications before finalized
Proficient in understanding web-based modules, content creating software, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
Ability to collaborate with team in a variety of capacities as the job requires it
Ability to cross-train as needed
Reliable and punctual

Able to travel; work before and after normal business hours, including occasional weekends as necessary or when warranted
