Job Title: Technical Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Technical Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing project deliverables within the allocated time frame, coordinating documentation that captures design decisions, and ensuring all aspects of the 3D space are addressed. The role requires a solid understanding of spatial and program requirements, design and construction standards, and the ability to problem-solve conflicts to align with design intent. The Technical Designer will create design documentation from the Schematic through the Construction Administration phase, using CAD drafting and coordinating with vendors.
Responsibilities
Execute project deliverables in the allocated time frame as coordinated by the project manager.
Coordinate documentation that captures design decisions while addressing functionality, alignment with programmatic needs, and holistic 3D space considerations.
Problem-solve conflicts related to spatial and program requirements to align with design intent.
Create design documentation from Schematic through Construction Administration phase under the project manager's oversight.
Engage in CAD drafting and external coordination with vendors.
Understand product data and commercial requirement standards, including durability, installation methods, appropriate application, and code compliance.
Coordinate design documentation to adhere to standard construction methods and design detailing.
Collaborate with the design team to resolve issues during the documentation process.
Execute custom furniture and fixture details to align with design direction as directed by the project manager.
Review drawings from outside consultants (e.g., architect, drafting, millwork, and custom furniture).
Assist in the creation of redlines.
Support the Project Manager and/or Job Captain with shop drawing review, submittals, and RFIs.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Experience producing construction documents for hospitality interiors projects.
Knowledge of Architecture, Design, Interior Architecture, Drafting, Construction Administration, and Design Development.
