The Goodreads General Marketing Manager owns the strategy and tactical delivery of marketing programs at Goodreads, focused on driving engagement and revenue through content/product marketing. This role defines the strategic direction and priorities for Marketing and sets goals that contribute to the overall growth of Goodreads and Amazon Books. This includes analyzing performance to identify opportunities for optimization, testing new channels and campaigns, uncovering potential risks that need to be mitigated, and owning measurement and reporting to leadership.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work autonomously, have excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to influence others, working closely with various teams internally (research, design, product, engineering, etc.) and externally. They will have a passion for understanding customers and not be afraid to experiment, learn, and iterate on their approaches. The successful candidate will be customer obsessed, skilled at data analysis, and an effective project manager.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Define the goals, strategy, and measurement for marketing initiatives to drive Goodreads business goals as well as identify opportunities that support the overall goals for Books.
- Deliver written narratives that clearly communicate marketing strategy, business results and future opportunities.
- Embrace a data-driven test-and-learn approach to refine new marketing approaches and channels to reach and engage key audiences. This includes defining business metrics, measurement plan, and testing plan for related campaigns.
- Develop detailed campaign project plans, creative briefs, and digital strategies, including campaign goals, messaging, calls to action, segmentation strategy, adoption campaigns, marketing distribution channels, and campaign schedule.
- Drive improvements to processes, reporting and analytics with an eye towards automation.
- Drive insights and learnings cross-functionally on campaign performance, including best practices and recommendations for both copy and creative.
- Set strategy for email program as well as project manage email campaigns, implementing the appropriate feedback and approval process, ensuring accuracy of copy, segmentation, etc., and timely deployment.
- Advocate for tech initiatives to optimize growth and performance, partnering with Product Management and Tech teams to analyze opportunity size and get buy-in for ideas.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in email/push marketing, CRM, and marketing automation, including new opportunities within Amazon Owned & Operated channels.
- Experience working cross-functionally with partner teams to drive adoption and usage of brand assets and messaging.
- Experience in strategic marketing management and market analysis and demonstrated ability to build and execute a strategy with clear goals and objectives to align to business and service objectives, and support portfolio objectives.
