OverviewHighgate/ LUCID is seeking a Junior Designer to join our fast paced, high energy and innovative design team. The candidate will provide support to the senior design team and will have the opportunity to work on all phases of the design process from concept, construction administration and hotel openings. We are looking for a creative, detail oriented and self-motivated individual who possesses great communication and presentation skills, a true passion for design and loves to learn, grow, and contribute to exceptional built environments. This is a non-remote, New York City based position.
Responsibilities
Researching materials and furniture specifications
Prepare test fits, space planning, and schematic design schemes by CAD drafting and/or 3D model
Develop FF&E packages – participating in the selection and documentation of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and material specifications
Obtaining and managing samples and relationships with vendors
Researching and obtaining quotes from various vendors and following up on approvals
Coordinating design requests incoming from the hotel properties
Supporting design staff in executing hotel design projects
Sketching floor plans, details and concepts
Supporting the development of presentations that include mood boards, FFE ideas, material palettes, etc.
Design document control for new build projects
Researching international design firms for project consideration
Supporting the senior design team as needed and directed
Contribute to office culture and initiatives
Qualifications
A professional degree in interior design, architecture, or environmental design is required
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in an interior and/or architecture design firm
Hospitality experience preferred but not required
Excellent written, verbal, and 3D communication skills
Experience in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office. ( Rhino a plus)
Composition skills with a passion for styling
Hand sketching skills are a plus
Ability and willingness to travel which will be around 30%
Salary Range $75,000 - $80,000 per annum, plus bonus, medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K.
