Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Designer with a background in architecture, engineering, or industrial design to support our Head of Product in designing Urban Umbrella scaffolding systems for high-profile construction and branding projects. This role blends technical design, visual communication, and field coordination, providing exposure to product development, construction operations, and client-facing presentations. This is an in-person role based in Midtown Manhattan.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and detailing of Urban Umbrella installations for construction and special event projects.
- Produce high-quality renderings and visualizations for client proposals and internal planning using Rhino or similar tools.
- Conduct site visits to ensure field conditions match design intent and verify compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and estimating teams to deliver timely design documentation and client-facing visuals.
- Support the Head of Product in drafting and refining product innovations and custom system applications.
- Coordinate across departments to manage rendering timelines, presentation formats, and technical requirements.
- Maintain detailed project files, design archives, and template libraries.
- Occasionally travel to domestic and international project sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, MicroStation, or SketchUp.
- Strong graphic and visual communication skills.
- Willingness to engage in both office-based design work and on-site field support.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a collaborative mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Rhino 3D modeling and rendering workflows.
- Familiarity with structural systems and construction documentation.
- Understanding of NYC sidewalk shed regulations (Chapter 33) or related codes.
- Experience preparing presentation-quality visuals for external stakeholders.
