A Brief Overview
As a member of the Stanford Blood Center Marketing and Communications team, the SBC Graphic and Multimedia Designer will lead graphic design projects and execute a medium to high volume of graphic design and multimedia deliverables and projects, while following brand guidelines, ensuring cohesion of messaging with design, and elevating brand visuals

What you will do
Design & Conceptualization:• Create impactful and cohesive designs for a variety of platforms including social media, websites, apps and digital advertisements.• Design for print media such as signage, branded merchandise (wearables, drinkware, etc.), packaging and document/booklet layouts.• Develop still and motion graphics for stadium displays and video advertising.• Conceptualize and execute designs for diverse campaigns, channels and audiences by actively participating in meetings, identifying deliverables, timelines and scope, and collaborating closely with stakeholders.• Utilize job-required software applications and possess in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design.• Develop and present creative concepts and design direction to leadership.
Brand Management:• Ensure all designs adhere to and elevate the organization’s brand guidelines while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across all media platforms.• Serve as a key point of contact for feedback and approvals from internal teams and external partners, balancing creative vision with stakeholder needs.• Oversee signage, infographics and artwork for donor centers, mobile blood drives and other locations.
Project & Time Management:• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and consistent communication, meeting all deadlines without compromising quality.• Proactively communicate progress, flag potential issues early, and seek clarity on project goals and deliverables to ensure smooth project workflows.• Organize and maintain a meticulous file structure for design assets, ensuring easy access and version control.• Provide guidance to less experienced designers, offering graphic design guidance and help with technical questions involving design software.
Creative Problem Solving:• Apply creative problem-solving skills to overcome design challenges, adapting to shifting priorities or tight timelines without sacrificing quality or creativity.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative design solutions that address campaign goals and user needs.• Participate in creative sessions and project planning to make sure brand execution and graphic design follow the correct strategy and guidelines.• Identify, propose and implement efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities through sourcing of new vendors, new technologies and best practices.
Production & Quality Control:• Prepare print-ready files, ensuring they meet professional printing standards, and conduct physical proof/press checks to guarantee the highest quality in production.• Liaise with vendors to ensure accurate production and timely delivery of print materials and branded merchandise.• Review and adjust design deliverables as needed to maintain a high standard of quality.• Manage Stanford Blood Center brand assets and guidelines and ensure cohesion between visual style and messaging.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative design solutions that address campaign goals and user needs.• Participate in creative sessions and project planning to make sure brand execution and graphic design follow the correct strategy and guidelines.• Identify, propose and implement efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities through sourcing of new vendors, new technologies and best practices.

Strictly observe privacy and security related policies, procedures and practices to preserve the integrity and confidentiality of medical and other sensitive information pertaining to donors, patients, research subjects, and employees. Act as a responsible information steward and treats information as sensitive and confidential in accordance with federal and state laws and with professional ethics, accreditation standards and legal requirements. Do not disclose protected health information inappropriately.
May be required to enter areas where other individuals work with human blood; potential may exist for unanticipated exposure to bloodborne pathogens by splash or spill.
Education Qualifications
BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience required.
Experience Qualifications
3+ years to 5 years of graphic design experience, including both digital and print media required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of projects (digital, print, motion design).strong portfolio showing a full and diverse range of work.
Visual problem solver: the ability to translate complex information into compelling visuals for a lay audience.
Experience with and strong understanding of digital and print process, artwork preparation, design principles and best practices, including preparing press-ready files and conducting press checks..
Proven experience designing for multi-channel campaigns, ensuring consistency and optimization across social media, web, print, and video platforms.
Experience with packaging design, document layout and large-scale formats such as stadium graphics.
Strong communication skills to meet stakeholder needs and ensure project success.
Strong project management skills: the ability to plan, oversee and execute a project on time and within budget.
Highly professional, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules.
A passion for and strong understanding of brand development design workflow and processes.
Demonstrated ability to manage a medium to high volume of projects independently and collaboratively, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to feedback and iterate quickly, maintaining a high level of quality throughout the design review process.Ability to take feedback and rapidly prototype visual designs.
Excellent time management and project management skills.
Expertise in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), Figma and/or Miro, Canva, PowerPoint and other relevant digital and motion design tools
Ability to analyze design performance and make data-driven improvements.
