The Marketing Specialist is responsible for the marketing of Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) membership and ACSA professional development events. This employee works in collaboration with the ACSA Member Services and Professional Learning Departments to develop, produce and execute marketing content and campaigns, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts using available data and emerging digital sales methods.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, while also working collaboratively with staff members in other departments. Methods of performing tasks are left to the judgment of the employee with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications providing occasional instruction and guidance on decisions.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Works closely with members of the ACSA team to create marketing campaigns that drive registrations at all ACSA Professional Development events. (conferences, workshops, academies, virtual strands, etc.)
  • Monitors registration numbers and adjusts marketing efforts to help meet the organization's registration goals.
  • In consultation with the EdCal and Leadership magazine editor and the Professional Learning team, produces promotional articles and other materials for ACSA Professional Development events.
  • Collaborates with ACSA conference organizers to develop campaigns that enhance the experience of conference attendees, including articles, e-mails, notifications, brochures and digital sales methods.
  • Works with the Member Services team to generate promotional materials that communicate the value of ACSA membership to prospective, new and current members.
  • Using data analytics and surveys, leads the marketing strategy and collaborates with stakeholders to create and execute measurable marketing campaigns aligning with the association's brand, tone, style and values to increase new memberships and engage and retain current members.
  • Proofreads marketing content to ensure it is accurate and free of grammatical errors.
  • Adheres to production schedules and communicates deliverable needs and deadlines to all responsible parties.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to create marketing content for ACSA's social media channels.
  • Assesses the user experience of customers in the registration and membership process and develops goals to increase conversions and member satisfaction.
  • Develops and distributes marketing materials (toolkits) to ACSA's region and charter levels.
  • Manages and monitors traffic and conversions across all ACSA platforms (social media, e-mail, print, website).
  • Analyzes data from marketing campaigns to advise on the effectiveness of current and future campaigns and channels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Training and Education:
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign; Photoshop), Microsoft Suite (Word; Excel; One Drive); social media; project management systems; email marketing platforms.
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics, Looker Studio, GA4 and marketing tracking software.
  • Digital sales and marketing.
  • Excellent grasp of English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Effective time and project management techniques.
Education:
College or university-level education in marketing or sales. A typical education would include a degree from a two-year, four-year, or post-graduate institution. Candidates with work experience in the marketing or sales industry will also be considered in lieu of a college or university-level education.

Experience:
3-4 years of experience creating and managing marketing and promotional campaigns for associations, non-profit or for-profit companies or organizations. These campaigns should reflect strategic planning, creation and distribution of deliverables, as well as data that reflects growth in memberships, event attendance, participation, and increases to revenue. Experience in digital sales and marketing practices will also be considered.

Ability to:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues from other ACSA departments.
  • Review marketing and conversion data and create strategic plans that support growth in membership and professional development/conference development.
  • On occasion, travel to in-state conferences, some requiring an overnight stay.
The salary range for the Marketing Specialist is between $73,730 and $91,910 annually.
